Бронирование отеля Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat было сделано через Агоду и подтверждено 07 декабря 2020 года.
На мои два письма с уточняющими запросами отель не ответил.
Наконец, 09 марта 2021 года я написал в отель и сообщил наши рейсы прибытия и убытия, а так же список гостей.
10 марта мне ответила из отеля Aminath Solih Reservations Manager:
"Greetings from Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat,
Many thanks for the flight detail and full names . Seaplane transfer will be arranged accordingly.
We have also noted the special room location request and will try our best to accommodate as requested ."
В общем подтвердила, что ждут нас.
А сегодня 02 апреля 2021 пришло письмо от Агоды сообщающее, что отель отказывается принять нас по цене этого бронирования.
То есть, отелю понадобилось 4 месяца что бы выяснить свою невозможность приёма гостей с уже подтверждённым бронированием.
Такое неуважение к гостям отеля просто неприлично и недопустимо.

Reservations for the Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat were made via Agoda and confirmed on December 07, 2020.
The hotel did not respond to my two emails with further inquiries.
Finally, on March 09, 2021, I wrote to the hotel and reported our arrival and departure flights, as well as the guest list.
On March 10, the hotel's Aminath Solih Reservations Manager replied:
"Greetings from Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat,
Many thanks for the flight detail and full names . Seaplane transfer will be arranged accordingly.
We have also noted the special room location request and will try our best to accommodate as requested ."
In general, she confirmed that they are waiting for us.
And today, on April 02, 2021, we received a letter from Agoda informing us that the hotel refuses to accept us at the price of this booking.
That is, the hotel took 4 months to find out its inability to receive guests with an already confirmed reservation.
Such disrespect for hotel guests is simply indecent and unacceptable.

Beautiful place, snorkelling right out of your balcony, nice staff, a bit too religious for covering at the beach but altogether is fine. Good buffet food too much Indian spices in everything even steamed vegetable. Water villas are very nice. A bit far from the airport but also very private. It’s good for couples. If you have kids probably you need another island.

Despite a few initial wrinkles communicating with the reservation staff and availability of the masseuse...we had the perfect family Christmas and NY at Drift. Although officially an adult only resort we were allowed to bring our children with us as an exception. All members of staff were very friendly. The bungalows were well appointed and cleaned twice per day. Mr “Su-Santa” (maitre d’) satisfied all our culinary desires. You must reserve the lobster lunch at the beach! “Riffle” (and Monty) took very good care of us on all the excursions. We really appreciated the extra activities the resort organised to entertain our family. Elias’s gin fizz and sunny disposition was a daily delight. In general the buffet was ok / as expected. The quality of the a la carte was very good. We are not fans of big commercial resorts and prefer a la carts vs all inclusive.

Conclusion: don’t expect a fully well oiled machine...there will be some imperfections...but the laid back, authentic and friendly atmosphere in a picture perfect setting overcame any worries or concerns that we may have had.

This was one of the best and most relaxing holidays we have ever experienced. Staff was fantastic, the location was perfect and the food was out of this world.
We arrived by sea plane and were met at the dock to be taken to our villa. We were tired and ready to relax, but unfortunately there was an issue with our room. Iresha and Aisha from the Front Office went well above and beyond to address the situation and make sure we were satisfied with our accommodation. We very much appreciated how they handled the situation and ensured we had the best stay possible.
We stayed in a water villa and loved the large deck where we could relax after swimming and snorkeling and also sit and watch the sunset in the evening. The bathroom was huge, and we liked that there was both a shower and a bathtub available. When sitting in the bathtub, you could open the doors and look out over the water! Jonny from Housekeeping came twice a day to check the room. He made sure it was always clean, stocked the minibar and prepared the bed at night always with a cute message. We also appreciated the daybed in the room. It rained one of the days we were there, but we could relax on the day bed, read and just watch the storm above the water.
Iresha and Aisha were both amazing throughout the whole week giving us great tips for things to do and arranging for several excursions.
We went on the trip to see the whale shark and the experience was breathtaking. Swimming with an enormous fish like that is a once in a lifetime experience! But we were also able to see so many beautiful fish snorkeling right in the water around our villa. We saw so many types of fish we bought a book at the airport on the way home to try to identify them all.
We really liked how quiet it was on the island. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. The unique aspect of Drift is that it's small. This means the service is very personal and you can enjoy an incredibly friendly atmosphere. It's not a party place, but you definitely won't be bored.
Our trip was all-inclusive, but due to COVID there was no buffet available. We were very happy about this! We chose whatever we liked from the menu for breakfast and had multiple courses for both lunch and dinner. I am a vegetarian while my partner is not, but this was not an issue. Chef Aruna surprised us every day with delicious and beautifully presented meals. One point I'd like to make though is that I think the kitchen might offer more vegetarian options in general for their guests. Not every meal needs to have meat or fish, and sometimes we would enjoy just a simple pasta or a lighter dish. I have to say, however, the food was one of the highlights of the trip and we were excited every day to see what Chef Aruna would prepare for us.
We really liked going each evening after dinner to the bar to enjoy a drink. Eliyas prepared the cocktails just how we liked them and was always attentive and friendly. They also offered great snacks in the afternoon so you could get a bite if you wanted before dinner.
Overall, we highly recommend Drift Retreat as a place to unwind and relax, enjoy incredible food and be surrounded by excellent staff that go out of their way to make your stay special.

We was in November and stayed for 10 days on the island. We booked all inclusive.

The island is arround 35-40 minutes with the water airplane from Male away.

We had a Water Bungalow on the Sunset side and it was really nice. A big bath, the terrace was nice and large. The room was clean and the room boy came two times a day (Morning and Evening)

The stuff on the island was so friendly.

Above all, we would like to emphasize the kitchen chef. About the Corona Situation and not so many guests we had for Lunch and Dinner Set-Menu.
The menu was always varied. Sometimes with fish, meat, Italian, Asia Kitchen etc.

We believe that the chef cooks at a 5-star level!

Also when you had a wish to eat it wasn't a problem.

They island is ideal for spending honeymoon or time for two.

In the rooms you haven't any TV. For us it wasn't a problem, but just for them where need it.

The house reef offers a good opportunity for snorkeling and there is much more to see in addition to sharks, turtles and rays.

It should be mentioned that we arrived around the lunch time but we didn't come until dinner. On our departure day we left the island in the evening and they informed us if we want to eat the lunch it's only included if we haven't lunch on our arrival day. Otherwise they will charge us.

So we think they should inform the guests on the arrival day, because it's nice to know...especially when you stay on the departure day longer than 12 o'clock..

All drinks and we mean all drinks including water would be charged after 12 o'clock.
So we had our lunch for free, because we hadn't on our arrival day but the bottle water where we had for lunch was charged.

If we consider that we also paid additionly a larger amount to the hotel (Whale Shark Trip, Romantic Dinner) we were disappointed with the water for lunch.

For them who need WiFi, this is a point where is really bad. The WiFi is so bad that it's not possible to watch short videos and when you have some guests on the island it works nothing with the WiFi.

We had arround 8 guests inculding us on the island but we think after Corona when some more guests will come, you can check maybe only your Whats App and that's all.

But we spend a wonderful time on this small island, with the friendly staff and we will come in the future again.
