This church commands attention from a distance. The old architecture gives you the feeling of time travel from the past. With the view of the nearby river with the winding bridge will remind you that simple happiness residing in the province. It will wash your worries away.
Ever since I was a kid, it already stood as high and beautiful as it is today. Despite the hundreds of typhoons that hit this place, it still stands strong and ever more beautiful. Say a prayer at this church or just admire its beauty.
Bato Church is one of the rare churches in the Philippines (except perhaps in Bohol) where the materials used are corals and clay. These combination of materials has provided these churches to withstand big earthquakes and have lasted hyndreds of years. The location too is very beautiful as it sits right beside Virac River which is by itself very grand. Wish we had experienced attending mass there during our visit.
Good example of Spanish architecture. It was a shame about the litter scattered all over the grounds though. We were unable to go inside the church as it was locked
visited Bato Church during our Visita Iglesia this Holy Week of 2017. an old church with a great view of a river near it. a solemn place for prayers and contemplation...
The facade which gives the historical appeal of the church has been preserved however, renovation is apparent inside.
This structure is located in a highway and has a new view of the sea.
A nice place to visit.
