5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 4, 2013
EXCELLENT, AWESOME, GREAT AND BEAUTY AT ITS BEST, what a least words to say about the hotel, its a greatest hotel in munnar and none can beat them in hospitality, its one of the most beautifully located and the rooms are cool and cosy, House keeping is great, Front Staff - Salute to them, great work and keep it up, Food is awesome , at night they arranged bonfire and light music
If any one Visiting Munnar, pls dont go anywhere else just search Devonshrine green and book the same , the valley view room with or without balcony both beautiful and between the green tea plantation.

Good work - keep it up, we will always go to same hotel and suggest everyone for the same

I recommend Devonshire Greens to everyone. It is a very peaceful and an amazing place to live in.Great location- surrounded by hills and lush tea gardens, a beautiful waterfalls. The hotel has a wonderful team that provides a good customer service. They all receive with a smile.Breakfast is very nice and also the dinner. You will get all varieties from North Indian style to South Indian. They organize morning trekking which is simply awesome. It is away from the main town centre but that's a good news- no pollution. Only trouble is getting in and out of this hotel is bit of a roller coaster because of bad approach roads.
Apart from this me and my wife had a fabulous time at Munnar by staying at Devonshire Greens. We would definitely go back and stay here for our next holiday.

We decided to stay at the Devonshire green mainly due to its location and great reviews on trip advisor. Unfortunately we were deeply disappointed and did not enjoy the stay at all.

After a long drive from fort Cochin, were excited to arrive in Munnar and there is no denying the views are spectacular. But the customer service at this hotel is not on oat with the views.

We were checked in at reception and then shown to our room. We were given no explanation on the facilities in the hotel and taken to our room in the basement, which outside had a load of old beds and natresses making it look very untidy and off putting.

On getting on our room there we noticed there was a big leak in our bathroom and the bath mat was soaked through. We had to call reception twice to get this looked at. Then when it was fixed the workmen took ages and proceeded to say that there would still be a small leak but not to worry as it wasnt tap water and not sewage waste. There was dirt left all over the bathroom floor and wet towels, we were told someone would be down to clean this butagain, we had to follow this up twice before it was. There was also no information in our room about services such as room service or dinner/ lunch times.

We wanted to know what was in the locals vicinity so asked for a map, only be be told it would cost 30 rupees. I know not a lot of money but I don't think it's acceptable that a hotel charge you for a map of the local area when they should be trying to promote the local surroundings!

We were told there was wifi and when we rang up to repot it wasnt working the receptionist informed that it only worked in the lobby..surely she could have mentioned this when she gave us the wifi pass code!

The buffet dinner was nice and varied but the dining room
Was sterile and lacked in atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was below average and we ended up eating very little. We were the only western people staying in the hotel and the breakfast buffet did not cater for western tastes at all. We only found out by chance that there was an al a carte menu one afternoon at lunch, but ordering was painful as I had to go through about ten items to finally select something they did have! Surely this should have been explained before we starting perusing the menu!!

The second evening of our stay we asked for room service menu as there want one in our room. I was told that its in th room but it wasnt. The receptionist said she would get someone to bring one down. This never arrived! So an hour later my bf went up to reception and was told he would need to go to he restaurant to pick up a menu. When we tried to order it took over30 minutes to get through. We left our tray outside at approx 9pm and when we woke the next morning it was still there accompanied by a giant cockroach!!

One additional thing, there was only hot water at set times in the morning and evening. And even when the water was allegedly hot it was still cold.

This hotel could be so much better considering the amazing location!!! We found it cold, sterile and lacking in atmosphere. It was like a glorified travel lodge!! Terrible customer service, we felt that staff are poorly trained and had a do not care attitude. After one day I wanted to leave, if we weren't so far away from Cochin I would have left sooner as even two days was too much.

I don't understand why it is classed as a leisure hotel as the only leisure facilities we saw was a badly equipped gym which we again, had to ask where it was and for the lights to be turned on.

After having read so many wonderful reviews on TA, we didn't want to go anywhere else!

Booking was a bit of a challange because phone & email responses were not very prompt.. Perhaps because connectivity is not very good in that area.. But I kept calling them regularly & Anthony was very helpful to confirm the booking in this heavy season too..

Rooms were nice - new & modern. Great views from our 3rd floor room balcony. No AC but that was no problem at all. Cot was also provided for my baby.

Food was wonderful too. We had breakfasts as well as dinners at the hotel. Lovely spread & great taste. Its so important to start your day with a nice heavy breakfast and as important to have a sumptuous dinner once back after your all-day sightseeing. Plus it gets very dark after 7pm and not a good idea to go too far for dinner outside of your hotel. We were happy with all our meals at Devonshire. Restaurant staff was also lovely.

My baby was also provided oats breakfast & khichdi dinner daily upon request. Thanks to chef Rupesh for the same. Its critical for me that baby foods are provided as per your requirements when on a holiday.

Location of the hotel is splendid. Not to high up. Its 5 mins car drive to waterfall, 10 mins to Punarjani performance centre, 10-15 mins to Tata factory & 20 mins drive to Munnar town (for lovely Sarvana Bhavan restaurant).

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay. Staff was extremely hospitable. Rakesh was the best. Big thanks to him for all his assistance including the morning trek, which was a lovely experience. Thanks to reception staff for providing us daily sight-seeing ideas.

Will definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Munnar & on our next Munnar holiday too. Enjoyed every bit of our stay :)

Room tip: The higher floors have a better view. Some rooms also have a balcony, If you need extra beds, you may opt for non-balcony rooms. Just ensure the view is unrestricted because there are tall trees which may block the view.

Away from the town centre of Munnar, this property is a just a place where you would want to just relax. The property is beautiful on the edge of a valley surrounded with Tea Gardens. You can choose to just chill out in the small garden or take a walk to the Attukad waterfall or take a walk in the Tea Gardens. In the evenings you can choose to take a long walk to see the Kathakali/Kalari show or just enjoy a Kerala Chai at a road side shop!!

The lobby is very spacious and impressive, especially in the evenings when the lights come on. The Restaurant is at level 4 and ovelooks the valley. Rooms are spacious and neatly appointed some of these also have balconies overlooking the valley and the gardens.

Food was very good. Nice spread for the Dinner as well as the breakfast, the kitchen staff was very proactive and served with a smile.

All in all a great experience. Recommended

Room tip: Take rooms on the valley side level 2&3
