Being a massive fan of the films this is my equivalent of Graceland!

It looks very simular to how it appears in the 1972 movie. Not only this but it is packed with memrobilia from the filming.

I also need to add that just up the hill from here is road where the happy couple walk down from their wedding!

Now that my fanboy has had its say i need to fuether my review by adding that while this bar is packed with Godfather, it is still a quaint local traditional Sicilian bar where locals also partake!

Their Granita (to call it a kind of lemon slushy but much better doesn't do it justice but it's the best way I can think of describing this drink to you) is an absolute must!

If you are a fan of The Godfather movies, than visiting this Bar is a must! Not only does it appear in the first movie, but it is also as traditionally Sicilian as you can get!

The bar is tiny and contains a small museum dedicated to the filming. There is a beautiful view which one can admire from the al fresco tables in front. The food mainly consists of items perfect for lunch, that is salads or baguettes, however the real masterpiece is the 'tagliere', which is a platter full of local produce such as locally made cheeses and salami. So good!

One of our favourite movies is ‘The Godfather’ and I discovered as I was researching things to do in Sicily that Bar Vitelli (located at Piazza Fossia, 7, 98038 Savoca) is an actual site and famous as the location of the scene in The Godfather where Michael Corleoni meets his future wife while in hiding out on Sicily. This bar is a little hard to find unless you have a satnav but the trip is worth it. Travelling north from Taormina note that there are only limited number of exits where you can get off the A18 and onto the SP19 that heads inland to Savoca. This means you have to drive a couple of miles past where you think you should exit and take the Roccalumera exit then do a right-hand u-turn and follow the coast road back the way you came until you see the SP19 road which takes you north west inland to Savoca. DO NOT MISS THIS EXIT. There are no more exits for a considerable distance and while the view of the sea is beautiful, it will add an hour to your journey driving north and then having to turn around and do it again. The inland road to Savoca while slow and twisty in places is worth the driving hassle. Upon arrival at the Bar we were able to site in the exact seats that Michael and Maria sat in in the movie and then spent some time on the inside looking at the movie memorabilia and making purchases of Bar Vitelli souvenirs including their own brand of grapa and other beverages available for purchase at the bar (including gelato). Across the valley you can see Chiesa di San Nicolo/Santa Lucia (Forza d’Agro, Via S. Nicolò, 4, 98038 Savoca) where Michael and Maria were married in the movie. This was great fun and a real movie experience.

It is very touristic but I have eaten the perfect tiramisu there. Don't forget to go inside and see pictures and furniture from the movie.

Hi,

As we are not really big Godfather fans, we selected this place more for the fact that it looked welcoming and served lunch then what it's known for. We both had granita's and toasted bread with different toppings. Drinks and food were ok.

Cheers,

Bart
