This is a lovely pub to have a Sunday lunch in. Felt very welcome by the staff, especially the landlady. The décor is simple, the restaurant areas feel a little old ladyish, and don't really say country pub, but I guess it's a personal taste so not really a problem.

The food was great, lovely meat and a really nice veggie tart. Nice gravy and freshly cooked vegetables. The dessert menu is vast, so many ice-creams to chose from its mad! I would like to see more homemade desserts on the menu as the server indicated that most aren't made on site, but the bought in dessert was actually very nice regardless.

Lovely beer too, everards Titanic porter is a real treat.

All in all a lovely Sunday lunch.

Went here on Saturday 19th may party of ten. At first there was abit of confusion due to someone forgetting to book us in when we called too book but wasn't a problem we was soon seated. The pub has a lovely feel and the dining room is lovely. The toilets are amazing the ladies have 2p on the floor and the land lady showed me a sneak peek of the men's which has bottle tops on the floor. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and the portion sizes were good. Chips are lovely! We went out and sat in the garden after eating and it's beautiful. Already told friends about it and are planning our next visit. Thanks x

Visited today (21:5) I called advance to see if they served all day, they do so off we went. The menu is very limited, chips with everything, peas and garnish, normal put fayre. We opted for the minced beef pie special as it was the only thing with vegetables- it came quickly ( ding cuisine) and sat on the plate, granule gravy filled and then the veg. The pie was awful simply disgusting, dry clumps of grey mince, no seasoning and soft pastry fresh from the microwave, the veg ( which were abundant) were unseasoned and bland. We were the only people in and the reason was very clear.

Our daytime menu has over 50 meal options on of which fresh vegetables and potatoes are also an option with some meals.

We normally have 7 options on the specials board again with vegetable options

Our homemade meat pie was made fresh that day with ground beef.... not mince as most know from home baking

You arrived around 3ish which is our quiet time of the day having had a very busy lunch of a full restaurant.

First of all as we was a large group the menu was reduced and very poor choice. When the food came it was very bland and the rice was over cooked and soogy. Next we had to order our pudding which we had to pay an extra £1 for even though they were the same price as the other puddings. The puddings arrived the ice cream had a powdery texture and the custard was lumpy and the creme brulee was burnt.
Also the staff could smile to none locals as I was made to feel like an outsider the only one that smiled was the male waiter. I found it rude as well as we was leaving not one member of staff said thanks or goodbye.
Not impressed at all.

Thank Alexandria G

You came with a party who had already arranged the menu of their choice before hand, off which were extremely happy with the evening and the food, you wanted a pudding that wasn’t in the preordered choice
Our ice cream is produced by a well know local dairy.
Our custard is made and has fresh cream in it.
Unfortunately for yourself your family as they left apologised for bringing you and said they wouldn’t be eating out with you again

Our staff are known for there great personalities and making everyone feel welcome, we’re glad everyone else enjoyed their evening and have since complemented everyone

This was a real find ,passed by many times, travelling from leicester to burton on the A511. Called in for lunch greeted by friendly staff, drinks order taken quickly. Meals were very good and good value. I can really recommend The Birch Tree.
