If you're looking for a relaxing stay and nature, Camiguin Volcan is best for you especially the beach villa. We booked the villa and we enjoyed the view so much and you'll hear the waves since it's beachfront. You can also enjoy the sunset while in the hammock though the view deck (few steps away from the villa) got the best view. Their staff are very accommodating and friendly. Thanks for a relaxing stay, we surely will be back.

We booked an ocean view villa for 4 days. The website said you don't need air conditioning with the cool ocean breeze that blows in. Well, we found out the hard way this wasn't true. The room was unbearably hot. There is no sand beach and little privacy with other rooms and the sunbathing area being so close. We stayed one night and as soon as we woke, we checked out. There was also another couple checking out early as well. Of course, there are no refunds. So we just took a loss on 3 days. The receptionist acted and looked like she was very familar with guests leaving early. We won't be back. We also won't book another place without A/C no matter how beautiful it may look. On a positive note,if your American, the restaurant next door La Casa Roca has some excellent food and drinks. It is owned by an American and after weeks in the Philippines it is a welcome taste of home in addition to all the great Filipino food!

We had to cancel our booking because we were stuck in Bohol during Typhoon Basyang due to suspension of inter island ferry travel. We were supposed to take the ferry from Jagna but it was hard to find reliable information whether the bots are going or not. Even if we tried to go to Cebu and connect from there, there were no availability on ferries for the day we were supposed to go. The earliest we heard are for the next day. If we wanted to fly, we have to go all the way back to Manila but with flight cancellations we couldn’t find tickets either. We had to stay in Bohol an extra night to sort ourselves out and booked tickets to Manila the day after.

I understand that the resort has a 14 day cancellation notice but it’s not because we changed our minds that we didn’t go. We WANTED to go but COULDN’T. The day of our check in, no one was even around to take the call. I had to pay $0.20 a minute on international calls to sort this out. The resort refused to refund our payment despite Hotels.com Rewards Silver team following up with them.

I am now thinking twice in booking this resort despite the photos looking nice (been deceived in the Philippines, of all places though). I looked at more reviews esp with bathrooms that we’ll stay somewhere else when we plan to visit Camiguin.

Dear ex-globetrottingbabe,

We are extremely sorry about the circumstances, that you where not able not visit Camiguin and fully understand your position.

It was a pity that you could not reach us in the resort at first, but the whole island was out of electricity, internet and telephone through the typhoon. We had massive flooding on the island but luckily nothing serious happened.

We hope you still enjoyed your vacation ion the Philippines and give us and our dream island Camiguin an other the chance on your next visit.

Yours sincerely
Sabine Fien

Fantastic Resort, I stayed last year in April for 4 days and will be coming back again this year. The rooms are very nice and the grounds are just magnificent. Loved spending time relaxing on the hammocks in the afternoon and out on the deck by the sea in the evening at dusk. The resto serves fantastic meals although not cheap. Breakfast was also nice. There is no mobile signal at the resort but they do have WIFI at the resto. The owner was very accommodating and friendly and made a point to come and chat to us personally. I went diving with them to Mantigue Island which was also great. The dive master who I forget his name maybe Andrea ? was also very good. Friendly and happy staff, lovely rooms with good air-conditioning and a safe, also a place to hang your dive gear. I can highly recommend taking a guided scooter day trip around the island seeing all the sights, Alphie our guide was amazing. I can't remember his name but I will edit the post if I remember. We had lunch at the mangrove huts, went zip lining, saw the 3 sisters, 2 x waterfalls hot and cold springs and local blacksmiths. Not a cheap tour but well with it.

This hotel is a very good standard. It has a bar and restaurant that sells good quality food. The water in the hotel is drinkable there is an offshore reef. The hotel is located about 1.5 miles from the Checkpoint bar and restaurant which is the jump off point for white island and the main restaurant/bar area. The hotel is at the end of the hotel stretch of the circumferential road, furthest from the airport. Be aware everything seemed to close up at 9 pm when we were there even the trikes went home, one night we missed it and had to walk back in the pitch dark. Top tip take a torch.
There is a hotel next door Casa Roca that has a decent restaurant and bar for food.
The one thing that is a slight negative for me is that this hotel prices everything at European rates, but if you have travelled before you will have seen this technique. Don't be afraid to get out on your own the trikes are very inexpensive as are the attractions. The boat trip over to white island costs 500 pesos per boat.
Mambajao the main town does not really have a lot going on but there is a supermarket for supplies.
