Called for drinks only and enjoyed the ambience. For a pub of this type it was spotlessly clean. Well done. A great place to sit and enjoy the views across the valley.

Stopped at the Royal Oak for a bite to eat. We had the steak and ale pie which was home cooked, masses of steak served with chips veg and extra boat of gravy. Good selection of well kept real ales. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Proper pub would recommend and visit again.

On a recent trip to Harrogate for business we stayed at a B&B in Pateley Bridge. On our second night we decided to try the Royal Oak for our evening meal. we had been busy all day and needed something substantial to eat and both opted for the Steak pie. it was served up in good time, was absolutely piping hot and was probably the largest piece if steak pie that I have ever been served anywhere and accompanied by plenty of vegetables and chips. it was truly a great meal, plentiful, hot, tasty, served with no frills and without question extremely good value. I have a huge appetite, but am ashamed to say it beat me. No hesitation in eating there again and would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Also the barmaid, (and that is not being sexist, what else would you call a very pleasant female bar person}, was very friendly and worked under pressure with a smile and friendly chat. Thank you for a very pleasant evening and a great meal.

I hope that one day I get to eat there again.

Had lunch here recently. Friendly lady behind the bar who served the food. Sat outside to appreciate the views. Large portions, tasty food, great service. The perfect place to stop for lunch after walking around the town.

We planned a two night stay in Pateley Bridge and called the Royal Oak well in advance to ask about vegan food. Dan the barman assured us that it would be okay and if we called to let them know that we were definitely coming for something to eat a few hours in advance that would give the kitchen a chance to come up with something 'special' - this we duly did (call on the Saturday to say that we would definitely be there on the Sunday) - we were full of anticipation when we arrived at 8pm on the Sunday and introduced us to the (very pleasant) barmaid as Mr. and Mrs. Vegan. We explained the situation and she introduced us to Jacko the chef who had no knowledge of our request - we were about to leave and try the Indian restaurant instead but Jacko assured us that he's come up with something - and boy did he! Delicious stuffed peppers ready to scoff in about 20 minutes - we were so impressed that we went back the next evening for a bespoke vegan curry. Dan - Jack saved the Royal Oak's reputation!
