I have been visiting this hotel since I was 8 years old (45 now) and I have good memories from it. We have visited (my family 2 kids and my mom) for a week last July. Althought the hotel still keep its charm, it nees clearly a renovation in most parts. The people who takes care of kids are nice but not as in the old days when they kept the kids all the time busy and playing. Food is OK and the team that work in the restaurants are great (still motivated). The hotel still have a great potential!

Room Tip: ask for the rooms in the renovated part.

It used to be the number one hotel and resort in the mountains of RS state. Not anymore. Yet, it still has its charms, comfortable amenities, and its location - the surroundings are just breathtaking! I had a problem with the shower in my room, which would switch (by itself) to freezing cold and scalding hot, making the shower not a pleasant experience. But I wouldn't give it less stars than five just because of that. The rest is pretty worth it.

The view from this hotel is truly breathtaking (I have never seen else anything quite like it), the location is wonderful, and the food is pretty good – all of which basically balance out the terrible state of the hotel itself. The rooms are very poorly kept, there is caked-on grime/dust on the ceiling fans, the carpets are torn, stained, and stale-smelling, various areas of the hotel have a terrible stench, and you will find long-dead insects in many corners. Many walls are cracked and/or decaying in some way. Overall, the building is just in rough shape and could really use some thorough cleaning and remodelling. The hotel also clearly prioritizes families with children, which is great for the kids but pretty annoying for other guests (children of all ages are allowed to run throughout the hotel screaming at the top of their lungs). Based on all of this, I would probably recommend Laje de Pedra to families with children aged 2-12, but not to anyone else.

It's an old hotel, and looks like they don't mind very much about upkeeping it. But it has a nice kids entertainment room, with several professionals to play and take care of the kids. Also, the view is very beautiful and they have a nice grove within the hotel area.

Room Tip: On summer, get, at least, the "Camelia" rooms, because they have air conditioning. The "Bromélia" rooms only have a ceiling fan.

Hotel needs urgent overhaul. No bar open at night
Hotel good for family but not for Business people
Carpets are very old and Maintenance needed.
Far away from the city for dinner. Beautifull view but not from the booked rooms. Very noisy corridors.
