Loved our stay by the sea in this beautiful restored stone cottage in a tiny village. The cottage was well appointed and very comfortable. (Wifi was available at the reception) The cottage even survived what seemed like gale force winds during a stormy night. Jose was super helpful with confirming plans for a climb up Pico Mountain, rearranging our whale watching trip and giving us tips on bakeries. He also came and picked us up after we set out on a walk and it started tipping it down with rain! Highly recommend staying here, and would also recommend a hire car for Pico. Things were further apart than we thought!

We loved this place. It has beautiful views over the village to the sea and has been renovated very thoughtfully. The staff at Adegas do Pico could not have been more helpful, both before our arrival and during our stay. They arranged whale watching for us and suggested great places to eat. They even managed to contact us before we left the island to hand back the various possessions we had left behind. We very much hope to return to the Adegas do Pico.

We got a wonderful, pittoresque cottage with a stunning view over the sea and Sao Jorge. Placed 2-3 minutes drive from the center of the village so it really felt like you where on the countryside. The small house had a nice bedroom, bathroom with good standard, a small kitchen and a small patio. Cosy and cute! Only thing you could add was mosquitonets for the windows/door on the upper floor (where the bedroom is). At night it could get warm, extra so when it is humid as it tends to rain every now and then (typical Azorean style weather).

If you have questions and errands or need free wifi you can go to the service center in the village. The staff is really warm, friendly and helpful.

If you have a car to get around (closest supermercado is in Sao Roque, restaurants and smaller shops closer), this place is definitely a good pick! Must issue a warning though; watch out for a fiesta the village holds in the middle of august. This runs for a couple of nights where loud music is played until 6 or 8 in the morning. Because of this we couldn't sleep for some nights, but the owners compensated us for all the time we where there so they are really decent and well meaning. When there is no fiesta this village is very quiet and tranquil. It also has a nice rocky pool and 5 minutes drive away you have Picos only sand beach - very nice for people who like to take a dip!

Dear Megafred,

Thank you for your comment, for your kind words and patience.

We are happy to know that our house and the village left you with a good impression. Indeed Festa da Poça was quite loud. It lasts for 3 nights and it can affect some of our houses, depending on its location and wind direction. We cannot prevent these inconveniences to happen but we surely will fix everything we can to our guest's satisfaction.

The mosquito screen for Casa da Vinha window was being repaired and, since all of our traditional houses' windows are unique in size and trim there is no replacement while the original one in being repaired. Nevertheless, upon request, we can always set up a fan in the house.

Thank you again and I hope we can welcome you back soon in Pico!

Best regards,

José

The staff is very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the staff at the front desk told us where to find the highlights of the island and where we could find a good restaurant.

The house is located in a quiet village. It was clean and has everything you need. I would truly recommend this accommodation for others!

Professional, excellent and warm service. These are the keys to the success of Adegas do Pico. From our arrival and greeting by Sylvia to our fond farewell with José, one could not ask for a better experience. We work with small businesses teaching them how to improve and grow. Customer service is the most critical area and Sylvia and José are examples of the truth to that fact. We also met Maria - the woman who owns and has built the vision of Adegas do Pico - she too is gracious, friendly and warm.

In addition, the accommodations were clean, nicely furnished and well equipped. Our's (Casa do Porto) was light filled with great views of the water, Sao Jorge, the mountains of Pico and gave you a feel for being a part of the village. We came to Pico to see if it would be a place we would like to spend more time in the winter and believe we have found that spot.

If you want to not just visit, but feel more connected to a local and the people then Adegas do Pico needs to be your 1st choice.
