We discovered this place by accident, since we ran out of places to stay at during our Coron trip (everything was fully booked during the time). But I'm glad we did because this place is such a hidden gem.

Yes, it is quite far from the city proper, BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT. If you're visiting Coron for some unadulterated nature trip that's on the serene and quiet side, this is the perfect place.

They had express check-in so we were able to get settled in no time. Food at the restaurant was sort of a hit or miss. Some were pretty good, some were average. But none of them left me disappointed. The rooms were spacious and beddings were comfortable. Cable TV didn't work, tho.

The owners were pretty hands on, and actually entertained the guests asking around how the food is, and how the overall experience has been. Most of all, the staff is a super win as they are very thoughtful and proactively offers help to their guests.

Some people complain about the distance of this hotel from the city, but if you would like to experience a different side of Coron, then this is a hit! It's perfect for returning visitors of Coron who wants a new experience apart from the city proper.

I booked this hotel via Agoda and there are two misleading in the Agoda website. This property does not have an excellent location nor is it in Coron. The property is in Busuanga and although it is close to the airport, it is very far from all other amenities.

My husband and I were attracted to the hotel description as it said that the place is quiet, tranquil with great location so we thought that it’s similar to Kamala in Phuket, which has a quiet environment but is still accessible to Patong. We were dead wrong. The place is soooo remote i.e. there is no public transport to get to Coron town so Riverhouse will charge you 2000 pesos for transportation cost each time you need to get close to Coron. Aside from this, the difficult location means you are practically a hostage to the tour packages they offer and their meals. A very helpful tourist map made me realise that the location is actually in Decalachao, which does not boast of any nearby islands nor snorkeling sites other than Dimakya Island.

The first 30 minutes after arrival at the property, we immediately knew that staying would be a mistake so we asked if we could stay just for one night then cancel the other 3. They said no cancellation and no refund is allowed. We tried to get help from Agoda but to no avail. We decided to leave the next day anyway as we absolutely cannot stay any day longer in the Riverhouse prison.

The only upside is that the room is sufficient and new with a view of the river but there is no hot water and the shower barely trickles through.

Do not get fooled by the high rating! Unless you want to live like a monk or have a holiday retreat, heed my advice and avoid this place like a plague!!
