Yes it is on an island but very remote: there’s nothing else on this island. So you are kind of stuck there. Not for people planning to party in town. Not for people willing to chill neither: there is no beach. Just a pool without view that would need some repairs: paint is chipped out in several places. Food is average. They do not really offer you tours. Not very pro-active to assist you in your stay. Ho and they only clean up room every other day. Will not come back for sure. Apart from that people are friendly and rooms are clean. It is quiet so you’ll sleep well... if you like hard beds.

We chose Discovery island resort for their dive center as we expected to find the ambiance of passionnate divers staying and diving together and sharing dive stories at the bar at the end of the day watching the beautiful sunset... maybe we had too high expectations!
First there is no dive center per se on the island, they deal with a dive center on the shore so there is no advantage staying there. There were very few people and no ambiance at all. No dive staff on site.
The rooms are average, certainly not « modern », almost no hot shower, smelly bathroom, our bathroom sink faucet would get you showered everytime you try to wash your hands. The bedsheets were clean albeit with old stains but they mattresses were really hard.

The pool needs some TLC as the tiling paint is missing in big patches which is not very enticing and although it looks big on the pictures you can’t really swim much. The sunbeds around the pool are dirty plastic and they don’t recline so you either lay down or sit with no back support. There is no comfortable reading position seating . I realized also the various dirty dogs that wander the property love to lay on the chairs which explains why my towel was covered with hair... yeak!
There is no beach area where you can swim as the island is surrounded by either mangrove or algaes.
The restaurant is really average, breakfast not included and choices are boring. My first fruit platter had no mango, no banana but apples and dry orange quarters. I had to request that they buy mangos! Which they did the next day. I have to say one of the positive is the staff friendliness. They tried to cater to our needs but they can’t offer what they don’t have and can’t make up for the lack of maintenance of the place.
Then you are a bit trapped on this island; everytime you want to go on land you need to ask for a boat ride. It’s free and they are very flexible to arrange it for you but if the boat is gone you may have to wait up to 20’ until they come back, then 10’ ride to the port and then either you walk or get a tricycle. The return is even more complicated. You can’t call them to get them to pick you up at the port. You need to go to the Blue Moon café ( that you would not visit otherwise...) which conveniently belongs to the same owner as the resort and ask that they call the boat to pick you up and then wait and then walk again to the pier... then you cross the bay in total darkness with the boat staff that dies not speak a word or answer any attempt at small talk which makes the whole experience a bit anxiety generating...

Overall, not worth the trouble, there are many other options in town or if you want to be on an island then choose one that is beautiful and a bit more animated. Would not return or recommend even with a good deal.

The staff was wonderful. The hotel is a full service resort located on an island off the island town of Coron. It's a 5-10 minute boat ride included with the stay that gives you boat rides to Coron up till 1130 at night. You can go island hopping by kayak or paddle board by yourself. They also have a scuba dive center which we used our second day. The staff was very knowledgeable. They knew the spots, too every safety precaution and made the dives both fun and safe. The master diver had like 7k dives. The prices were reasonable, and everything we asked for, including tours to islands by other companies, Discovery set it all up and had us where we needed to be on time. We liked the privacy of the island, while still being able to go to Coron when we wanted. They also have a full service restaurant and bar which is great for breakfast first thing when you wake up.

We booked this hotel because there were more than 20 of us and we need a place where we can all stay at 1 place. If you want to be away from Coron town proper, this place will offer you relaxation. Just be mindful that there is always low tide in the afternoon. Meaning, they can only use their small boat to transport us (good for 6 pax). And we are 20, such a hassle to go to town at night.

Rooms are decent. I expected more for the price though. I was already at some hotel at Coron town which is cheaper and looks more appealing. Not to mention that there are mosquitoes on rooms without aircon. They even put service charge on bottled water or any drinks which is quite ridiculous. I understand that they had to bring goods to their islands but why not just make the price more expensive then?

Discovery was amazing. From the moment we got to Coron we had the boat waiting for us to take us to our private island. The staff were so polite and perfect, catering to our every whim. We were greeted immediately by the Asst manager Arlene and the Manager Riz. The swimming pool was a great size and very beautiful. It is also placed bang in the middle so the views are perfect as well.

The food was lovely and available throughout the day. The prices were very reasonable and less than what you would expect in such a lovely hotel.

The staff organised our trips for us and told us of other locations we could get to on our own without a trip. From the hotel we went on our favourite trip of our holiday which included Lake KAYANGA and the Twin Lagoon. Both are must see's. Then a few days later we travelled alone to the hot springs in Coron town. One of the most perfect places I have ever been.

We loved Discovery so much that we stayed an additional night, making this the longest place we stayed in our 16 day trip to Palawan.

Room tip: There appears to be a small hotel style complex, but if you ask for one of the villas they are perfect and isolated
