The staff was wonderful. The hotel is a full service resort located on an island off the island town of Coron. It's a 5-10 minute boat ride included with the stay that gives you boat rides to Coron up till 1130 at night. You can go island hopping by kayak or paddle board by yourself. They also have a scuba dive center which we used our second day. The staff was very knowledgeable. They knew the spots, too every safety precaution and made the dives both fun and safe. The master diver had like 7k dives. The prices were reasonable, and everything we asked for, including tours to islands by other companies, Discovery set it all up and had us where we needed to be on time. We liked the privacy of the island, while still being able to go to Coron when we wanted. They also have a full service restaurant and bar which is great for breakfast first thing when you wake up.

We booked this hotel because there were more than 20 of us and we need a place where we can all stay at 1 place. If you want to be away from Coron town proper, this place will offer you relaxation. Just be mindful that there is always low tide in the afternoon. Meaning, they can only use their small boat to transport us (good for 6 pax). And we are 20, such a hassle to go to town at night.

Rooms are decent. I expected more for the price though. I was already at some hotel at Coron town which is cheaper and looks more appealing. Not to mention that there are mosquitoes on rooms without aircon. They even put service charge on bottled water or any drinks which is quite ridiculous. I understand that they had to bring goods to their islands but why not just make the price more expensive then?

Discovery was amazing. From the moment we got to Coron we had the boat waiting for us to take us to our private island. The staff were so polite and perfect, catering to our every whim. We were greeted immediately by the Asst manager Arlene and the Manager Riz. The swimming pool was a great size and very beautiful. It is also placed bang in the middle so the views are perfect as well.

The food was lovely and available throughout the day. The prices were very reasonable and less than what you would expect in such a lovely hotel.

The staff organised our trips for us and told us of other locations we could get to on our own without a trip. From the hotel we went on our favourite trip of our holiday which included Lake KAYANGA and the Twin Lagoon. Both are must see's. Then a few days later we travelled alone to the hot springs in Coron town. One of the most perfect places I have ever been.

We loved Discovery so much that we stayed an additional night, making this the longest place we stayed in our 16 day trip to Palawan.

Room tip: There appears to be a small hotel style complex, but if you ask for one of the villas they are perfect and isolated

Discovery Island Resort is one boat ride away from the town proper. If you like to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the town, this is one of the place to be. The boat ride is about 10 to 15 minutes. If it is windy, you would have to wait for it to subside before you can get a boat ride. That's a bit of a hassle.

Staff is very accommodating. Place is well kept.

Room tip: Lodge 8 has a sea side view.

if you can just remember this line and don't be a petulant tourist, you'll be fine.
If you want a nice getaway and don't mind paying a bit more for it, this is you.
If you are paying high because you are expecting high quality, go to the West Town Resort instead.

As some people have stated in the previous review, there are a lot of things that can be improved on.
- The restaurant prices are a bit high
- The food kind of takes long (40 mins)
- The air conditioning is either too cold or too warm even if you change the dial by 1.

HOWEVER, please understand that the prices are high because they are located away from the mainland. It's kind of like trying to buy Asian food in Alaska or a t-bone steak in the Galapagos. You're not paying for quality, you're paying for the additional costs of getting these things into a separate location. Sure, this island is located about a 10 mins drive from the mainland, but to get things back and forth still costs money to get it to Coron and then Discovery island.

How to get over this?
- Don't expect too much.
- Come with a jumper if you are adverse to the cold
- Just be happy with this cute little island.
- Ask for mosquito coil as the door has gaps, or bring mosquito repellent.
- Don't let the dogs into your room even though they are quite friendly.

Plus points:
- Don't be afraid of the dogs. They are friendly and like pats.
- Swimming pool and pool table are free and the walkaround is nice but please wear shoes as there is broken glass and trash that might have been swept in.
- The boat there and back is free and operates from 7.30 am to 11pm. That is a real good deal.
- They will fill your water for free, which is nice for a place that is kind of away from the city.
- It is a nice getaway from the bustle of the city.

Some suggestions if the management are reading:
- More hooks in the shower would be nice. I am female and I shared a room with my adult brother and it's a little weird to open the shower curtain and get my towel and clothes on the floor. We eventually used the chair but it would be nice to have more hooks/rails in the shower.
I'm sure if other people shared the room with anyone who isn't their spouse it might get a bit weird too.
