Discovery Island Resort is one boat ride away from the town proper. If you like to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the town, this is one of the place to be. The boat ride is about 10 to 15 minutes. If it is windy, you would have to wait for it to subside before you can get a boat ride. That's a bit of a hassle.

Staff is very accommodating. Place is well kept.

Room tip: Lodge 8 has a sea side view.

if you can just remember this line and don't be a petulant tourist, you'll be fine.
If you want a nice getaway and don't mind paying a bit more for it, this is you.
If you are paying high because you are expecting high quality, go to the West Town Resort instead.

As some people have stated in the previous review, there are a lot of things that can be improved on.
- The restaurant prices are a bit high
- The food kind of takes long (40 mins)
- The air conditioning is either too cold or too warm even if you change the dial by 1.

HOWEVER, please understand that the prices are high because they are located away from the mainland. It's kind of like trying to buy Asian food in Alaska or a t-bone steak in the Galapagos. You're not paying for quality, you're paying for the additional costs of getting these things into a separate location. Sure, this island is located about a 10 mins drive from the mainland, but to get things back and forth still costs money to get it to Coron and then Discovery island.

How to get over this?
- Don't expect too much.
- Come with a jumper if you are adverse to the cold
- Just be happy with this cute little island.
- Ask for mosquito coil as the door has gaps, or bring mosquito repellent.
- Don't let the dogs into your room even though they are quite friendly.

Plus points:
- Don't be afraid of the dogs. They are friendly and like pats.
- Swimming pool and pool table are free and the walkaround is nice but please wear shoes as there is broken glass and trash that might have been swept in.
- The boat there and back is free and operates from 7.30 am to 11pm. That is a real good deal.
- They will fill your water for free, which is nice for a place that is kind of away from the city.
- It is a nice getaway from the bustle of the city.

Some suggestions if the management are reading:
- More hooks in the shower would be nice. I am female and I shared a room with my adult brother and it's a little weird to open the shower curtain and get my towel and clothes on the floor. We eventually used the chair but it would be nice to have more hooks/rails in the shower.
I'm sure if other people shared the room with anyone who isn't their spouse it might get a bit weird too.

The resort comes off as a place that was built by a well intentioned owner but has fallen under neglect, poor service and in need of repair. The location is really good 10 mins from Coron town. The food comes in really small portions and priced high for this market. A 10 percent service charge applies to all food. Perhaps that Standard tip is what explains the poor service in the Restaurant.

The pool is rather small and needs repair or at least Re-tiling. But hey at least there is a pool. There are Kayaks onsite that you can rent which is nice. Organizing tours is not good through the hotel as they keep changing their pricing. Best to just do it from Coron Town. They quoted me P3,000 for a full day tour. When I asked for a half day they quoted P3,500. Its stuff like that which maddens you about this place.

Ordered a mango float and got the tiniest slice of mango. I showed them a mango float and how much Mango should be there. The restaurant manager started arguing about how expensive prices for Mango are in Philippines!! Really - this is the Mango capital of the world!!

Overall the place has good Pricing and is conveniently located but be prepared to not have the best experience at the restaurant or to be bowled over by their service. Come with low expectations and you will be fine

A lovely island hotel a short boat ride from Coron town. The hotel provides free transfers on the boat allowing you to come and go as you please. The hotel itself is lovely although the rooms with only fans did get very hot. It was a tough call though as the fan only rooms were more authentic in the hill of the island. Good sized pool with a lovely view out to sea. Would also recommend the tour they offer through the hotel.

Room tip: Fan rooms are a nicer experience but do get very hot
