For a traveller like me who is looking for a historical churches... Goshavank is one place you have to visit in Armenia.

You will find best architectural design of the church.

Best scenery both the outside and inside of the monastery.

Thank Randzar

As most monasteries, this one is nicely located. It has a nicely carved portal and a very nice 13th century needlework katchkar. Inside the main church most walls are covered with text, even the wall behind the altar. As in many other monasteries in Armenia, also here there are 2 mini churches inside the main church. The monastery once housed a scriptorium and large library. The latter was burned by the invading Mongols, and the scriptorium/library is still blackened supposedly from that fire. On top of the scriptorium/library is a small bell tower. Part of the complex is still under renovation, and in another part swallows like to create their nests. One of the altars of the smaller churches has nice carved decorations, somewhat unusual in Armenia.
There is a nice 2 hour, walk through the Dilijan national park from Parz lake to the monastery.

Thank Katrien S

This is one of the most spiritual places in Armenia. Driving through the mountains, you appear in a very unique place. Very nice church with a very special atmosphere. You can buy souvenirs and special mountain herbs just down the hill. The grave of the Mkhitar Gosh is just on the front hill, it takes 5 minute to climb it through the village. I love this place.
