My sister and I wanted to live the real Maldivian life and that's the reason why we choose a guest house. We found Goby Lodge and it has been a really great experience living there. The room was big and clean, you can use the kitchen to cook or to have tea (lots of mixed tasty tea at free disposal). Shujaau, the owner, is a great person, he helped us from the first moment we contact him for booking until the end of our trip and we are still in contact now, making our friendship grow every day. If required, he can organize excursions and any activity asked. We had meals at the restaurant near the house, very good food and nice staff! We hope to come back soon!

We loved our stay at Goby Lodge, Shujaau the owner was so accomodating and helpful. He is also a dive master and for a reasonable price took us to the most amazing dive sites. The lodge itself is excellent value for money, and a 5 second walk to the beach.

If you want to visit the Maldives and not pay a small fortune for a over water bungalow plus experience life in a Maldivian community then I could recommend Gobi Lodge. Shujaau, our house was very welcoming and the great house clean and comfortable. We had planned to do some diving whilst on the island as the guest house offers this as an option, however the weather was not in our favour though we did manage 2 dives in the time we were there. Locals are very friendly and had a lovely time chatting with a few. Island food great and we became addicted to the local breakfast which was a spicy mix of tuna with flat bread. We booked through our travel agent as was part of an extended holiday, however fell would be better served to book direct and a number of issues raised from having a third party involved including the very stressful experience of finding out the ferry to the island from Male was not booked. A number of calls were made and managed to resolve this issue. Also would recommend travel and a different time of year when weather is more stable. January through to March is meant to be the best time. Wifi is offered, however as quite remote is slow and proved unreliable. Also if you are a person who like to be busy on holidays and not happy to sit around and read books and relax if weather not suitable for diving, snorkelling, fishing then I would not recommend this type of holiday.

As it was our first time in Maldives we didn't know what to expect from a local guest house but most likely a cheaper version of the resort-style tourism model, and we were a little suspicious since that's not what we were looking for. As we arrived and were welcome by mr. Mohammad Sujhan, the owner of Goby Lodge, we started the best part of our time in the Maldives (the rest we spent in the more touristy Maafushi). The place is simple but nevertheless comfortable and we were for 5 days the only tourists on the island and, just in front of the guest house we could watch the games of a handball championship of local female teams, that was very interesting. We had many interesting talks with mr. Sujhan who introduced us to the maldivian reality beyond the standardized tourist advertising and he as well organized for us a few snorkelling tours on some of the good places around for a very reasonable price (for the local standards). We definitely reccomend it and we will surely come back as soon as we will have the chance.

My wife and I were not expecting the level of service we received when we arrived the Goby Lodge Guest House. This basic guest house provides very basic rooms with both A/C and ceiling fan. The owner Sujha is such a personable, honest, caring and fair man. He made our stay on this small island such an incredible experience. We were blown away by the traditional local breakfast and the fresh fish for dinner. Be sure to request the local breakfast and not the western style, you will be very pleased. The diving and snorkeling experiences were stunning. Sujha is such a great dive master. If your looking for a non touristic/local experience, then this is the place for you.
