We stopped here while celebrating my birthday. We had a beautiful room, No. 3 in the front of the hotel. The attention to detail was perfect, the bed comfortable and the ensuite very clean and shiny. Lovely dressing gowns were available. The Tassimo coffee machine was full of different pods, tea and milk supplies were plentiful and as it was a very hot night, the fan came in extremely useful.
We did have a drink in the bar, the beer is from Kent as the hotel is Shepherd Neame supplied.
In the morning, I helped myself to cereal and juice and I asked for a full English, I'm ashamed to say, I couldn't finish it as it was immense and delicious.
My wife enjoyed her poached eggs and a pot of fresh coffee that she finished off on the outside seating as it was too hot to eat indoors.
The only drawback was the church bell directly across the road from the hotel as it rang every hour during the night, something I suppose you wouldn't hear if the bedroom window was closed but we had it open as it was too hot.
Thanks to Jan and Peter for making our stay a perfect treat.

Nice menu great food tasty and inexpensive
I would recommend this for food alone but the beer and staff is what you want from a pub with a friendly atmosphere I had nachos to start and found even that simple dish superb.

we were greeted by a friendly staff member who took us to our room which was very modern and stylish. The bed and bedding were so comfortable, as were the dressing gowns provided. The standard double does not come with a bath but the shower was spacious and the bathroom also modern. I thought the tassimo was a great touch/alternative to a kettle and the drinks selection and flapjacks provided were generous. The only drawback is the parking which is situated behind the pub but isn't owned by them. Not only was it costly but I had to leave the hotel early in the morning to purchase another parking ticket to cover me until check out at 11am. Also there was a quiz night on the Thursday evening which we caught the end of when we arrived back at our room at approx 9.30pm. It was very loud - we didn't mind but just a heads up for anyone staying on a Thursday wanting a quiet night in! Thanks for a comfortable relaxing stay, would book again!

Stayed here on a Saturday night whilst visiting friends in the area. It was recommended to us by them and we weren't disappointed. The rooms are lovely with. everything that you need; tastefully decorated, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed, drinks tray with a good selection. The staff were helpful and friendly without being in your face. The breakfast was delicious. Would have been included in the price if we'd booked directly through The White Horse so will remember that for the future. Our room was at the front so there was a bit of street noise with church bells thrown in. However, it is in the High Street so you expect some noise. I'd happily go in the same room again.

Room tip: I guess the back rooms may be quieter but couldn't guarantee it.

We'd been shopping in Maldon for a couple of hours and wanted a meal before heading home. There are all sorts of eating places in Maldon, but this one caught our eye. The menu seemed good, our only reservation being the World Cup Football showing on TV and a number of supporters in the alley at the side.

However, the dining area was almost empty and quite distinct from the area with the TV. We sat as far away from the TV as possible!

The lady behind the bar doubled as waitress and took our order. It was quickly fulfilled - we were the only diners. The food was well presented, cooked to a good standard and reasonably priced. The environment is nostalgic with images of, presumably, Maldon of years past.

Thankfully, the football supporters remained outside and we had a quiet meal.

Very enjoyable.
