“Good Brazilian Wine but a VERY Impersonal Tasting”
Review of Almaunica Winerie

Right off the bat: Their wine is pretty darn good for Brazilian wine (especially their Syrah), but the people working at Almaunica Winerie need a class in simple sales & marketing. Here's rule #1: "At least just pretend to be nice, after all people are paying money to taste YOUR wine and may buy some of it"! I'm not sure I've EVER had a tasting that was so impersonal and impolite and I've done more wine tastings than I can remember; well over 100 in 6 different countries. It seems at least one other reviewer had a similar experience. And my wife (who is Brazilian) was pretty disgusted and a bit embarrassed by the whole experience. Compared to all of the other tastings we did in Vale dos Vinhendos, this one was by far the worst. It makes me sad to say so, but spend your time at Pizzato and don’t waste your time on a bad experience at Almaunica.

Tastings for R$ 30,00 and the information is given in a snobish and rude way by the "gentleman" who is supposed to welcome customers. Not for wine lovers, the place is an "open bar" as the same gent informs, for those who want to drink not to taste. Do not waste your time.

This is probably one of the first next generation wineries in Vale dos Vinhos. Founded by two brothers whose two other brothers run the Don Lauri pndo winery, the moment you enter the driveway you realize this is a step ahead of the competition, more like Mendoza or Sonoma.
I had the luck to encounter one of the two owners during a Sunday morning tasting. Excellent Syrah!
