Beautiful home stay with Rich Cultural Values

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 19, 2019
Definitely Coconut Creek was our favorite home stay experience during our Kerala trip. Since I was travelling with family this time, I have to choose a home stay instead of hotels and resorts. The Home stay is beautiful and it’s unique by its treatment and experience. Coconut Creek has breathtaking views. This home stay is run by a couple Mr.Babu and Mrs.Regina. The staff is attentive and friendly.I always felt that Im in my home. The authentic Kerala food was excellent and the welcome drink was also delicious. Definitely stay here, if you are looking for tranquil and hygienic place. Even their prize was suitable for our budget. They will help you to find a sunrise cruise or a house boat stay for the best prizes! They have their own country boat in their property, and they offered a cruise in their country boat for a cheaper prize. My kids and family enjoyed every bit of Coconut creek. Of course, Im gonna come back to stay at this beautiful property again!
Thank you Babu Uncle and Regina Aunty, for making our vacation wonderful!

Lovely little home stay with AC rooms. Gorgeously cooked food by lovely people. Very cute little garden with some swings. Very close to the backwaters and bird sanctuary. Would definitely recommend a boat trip in the afternoon, to watch the sunset.

I am shocked to see such rating for this place.

My travel agent booked this place for me. I am good with home stays and as they provide you with the local experience. But this home stay experience was probably the worst experience ever.

1) Dirty water pool inside and outside: the artificial canal inside the house was super dirty and smelly. You would expect them to clean the water as it’s their property. Similarly, the area outside the house dirty and smelly.

2) Tiniest rooms and washroom. If you are claustrophobic, these rooms are not for you. Two people can’t fit in the room! We couldn’t fit our luggage’s inside the room. And please, let’s not talk about the washroom. No space between the toilet and shower. You basically stand next to the pot. I was so embarrassed to bring my wife to this place.

3) mosquitoes all over

4) they sell plain white rice for 150 rupees. I am ok payin the money but you can’t charge premium when your room is so small

5) poor customer service. These guys didn’t even come and say hi to me maybe cuz my roots are indian. They went and said hi to a European couple during breakfast.

6) no soap, dental kit, bathroom slippers, shampoo in the washrooom

7) one towel per room. Yes they provided one extra towel when I asked, but the least you should provide is two towels per room.

8) since we were stuck here for a night, we had to use the tv. They have no paid channels. Only Free to air DD 1 channels.
9) No backwater view at all

Basically, my worst home stay experience ever.

We stayed for two nights at Coconut Creek. We had some issues during our stay one was that the power kept going out which made the room very hot without the fan. The second being the water pressure in the bathroom was very low and it meant we had to have bucket showers.
The breakfast was a traditional authentic Indian breakfast and was varied.
The homestay were able to arrange for our onward taxi to Kochi at a reasonable price.

Hotel from outside seems bigger and attractive but inside was a compact room that exactly fits two people.

The amenities inside are little old and it took owner to show how to operate, not even a smile from the workers or owner at the time of entry and at the time of stay

Food has no value for money(Chapathi is as thinner as it could you could find what's on other side that costs 20 rs).... As a homestay we expected to have Kerala traditional breakfast.. Though they had mentioned they will provide Kerala traditional food, they were stubborn with bread omlet menu ...free breakfast we ended up getting bread omlet Maggie which is totally disappointing...so finally ended up having dinner outside the stay ...first day coffee was terrible ( must have used milk powder or added lots of water in milk) and next coffee a bit ok when complained to owner about it... though they have deducted the price of coffee after complaint...it's better to have good coffee other than price being deducted

No proper generator facility during power cut

A disappointing experience and owner finally smiled when we checked out (guess he would have found that we are totally disappointed with the stay)
