This little cafe is directly across the road from the chateau and they price their coffee accordingly. Whilst the coffee was fine as was the ambience I felt it was overpriced. Travel a few miles to another village and I paid half the price.

Were going to Parc Oriental and wanted nice, simple lunch within walking distance.

Place very tidy and clean. Light, airy restaurant on first floor.

Three course menu for 12.50 included wine and coffee.

Good buffet starter (great prawns); main course choice veal, salmon or pork; dessert or cheese. Good, friendly service.

Exactly what we wanted.

We were staying at the Chateau across the road and wanted a simple local lunch one day. L'Orangerie is just across the road from the Chateau Colbert gates and close to the Parc Oriental. The bar is downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. On a weekday they offer an excellent Menu de Jour at €12.50 (and one at €18.00 I think). That includes a cold buffet (salads) starter, a main course, a desert, a glass of wine and expresso coffee. The buffet starter had a variety including pate, ham, celeriac remoulade, mushroom salad, beetroot and a few other things, plus of course french bread. For the main I had a delicious sea bass fillet (filet de loup) with haricot beans, with the option of chips instead. Others had the steak and frites. The choice of deserts included apple tarte, lemon meringue pie and blancmange.

They don't speak much English, but were very helpful and friendly.

We also ate there another day (Saturday) and the menu is just a la carte on Saturday and Sunday. The food was good and again they were very accomodating even though we changed the numbers at the last minute. I had the gigot d'agneau which was ok, but a bit tough. My wife had a great croc madame, with the egg on top and my friend had a burger which was good.

We intended to have a sandwich but noticed lots of people going up to the restaurant upstairs. 12 euros was excellent value for self service salad bar. Chicken Kebabs, courgettes, wine and a desert. . Every seat was taken. Food was excellent and the service efficient.

We stopped at this restaurant today.

The staff were very pleasant and created a table outside for us at our request as all where full and it was lovely and sunny :)

We had steak and frites which was average and with drink cost 28 Euros.

Full of locals and good friendly staff.
