What a fabulous campground. There are about 56 places to park and all of them have a lot or room above and bellow them and are quite level. There is some highway/rail noise but if you went higher up and away from the road it probably would disappear.
Toilets were very clean and the whole camp site was really well looked after (thank you Betsy and hosts). This is a campground that we would actually make a detour to stay in again.

Skihist Provincial Park is a hidden gem. The park is located in a ruggedly beautiful area of B.C. It is quiet and exceptionally clean. Kudos to friendly camp rangers Betsy and her husband.

Skihist Provincial park is a small camping and day area on Highway one at Lytton BC. Camping at Skihist is very hot as Lytton is known as the hottest place in Canada. I recommend this spot to scenery and history buffs a like. Lytton is a very historical town and important to BC's modern history. It is also the point where the Fraser and Thompson rivers merge. Skihist campground actually has preserved an original section of the Famous Cariboo road that you can walk which also has an adjoining hiking trail that provides very good views of the Thompson canyon, CPR and CN lines. Take water and good footwear and hike in the cooler parts of the day. The town of Lytton is very small but huge in friendliness. The museum is very good for a small town museum as so much of Lytton's history is BC's.

Skihist was great, only cost 23$, there is a camp Host that lives there all year long ( i believe). Make sure to be honest, and pay the fee. It takes a long time to keep a camp ground nice and tidy like this one! I would describe this camp ground as a pit stop site, so lots of people would stay during the night along their long travel. there is running water, and flushing toilets at this camp ground. all sites have picnic tables, and a fire pit. Of course keep in mind of the fire bans during the summer. the bugs wern't a huge issue, but always bring bug spray, and citronel candles! there are bears in the area, so be aware of that issue and bring bear spray incase! Great place, highly recomend! only thing I wish would have been that the camp ground was by the water. but its MUCH better than the rest of the camp ground along the hwy near the thompson! This one is actually in PARK.. not just on the side of the HWY!!!
Happy camping :)

Our first trip to a British Columbia Provincial Park and we found this camp ground very nice, clean, welcoming and reasonability priced. We had some trouble with the yellow jackets but would return. Beautiful scenic views of mountains and nice hiking trails. The operators go above and beyond keep up the park.
