Agree completely with many of the other 1-2 ratings given on this hotel.
It is in the midst of no where. There is no transportation. And recommended taxi service is a friend of the front desk that charged 15E to get to downtown center that is only < 2-miles away.
The meals, less breakfast are 20E each and you have no choice unless you want to walk 1/2 mile up the road. Which provides more choices, but limited. There is a McDonalds up the road, too. I bet the recommended taxi driver would charge 15E to port you there.
We walked a lot, we have no fear, but would not be walking in the middle of the night, as the roads are narrow, curvy, and little lighting.
There is a place about a mile up the road called "Area 14(?)" which has a bar, sushi, cafeteria. Well worth the walk. Right near there are some super markets.
So the hotel itself...I think if the staff had been more helpful, it might have made a difference. They did not provide a map of the city. I managed to get somebody to print one. One staff said look on the wall, and it was behind something there in the lobby, so small print that you needed a magnify glass and had to be tall enough to read. No matter what question asked, the response was limited or negative.
The only individual behind the desk that was helpful was SIMONA. I asked her about some departure times for tickets on the train. She looked and printed them out, when the other staff member saw her do that, he said something and she continued, I gave him a glaring look and he walked away. There was another occasion when she tried helping us and this same guy interrupted and took over the conversation.
The facility is so so, they have a wonderful pool that is freezing - not like other pools with warm water. Then we are laying out for a few hours and the workers began working around us and SMOKING. It was obvious we had to move. But it was so rude, they could have asked us to move.
I've lived in Italy and will not say Italians are rude in general, but this staff clearly had no compassion or concern for their guest, or was it us?
I would never return to this hotel, nor recommend it. And if a chain, I'd probably quickly strike it from my list. I suggested to the staff to have some maps and list of places in the vicinity for guest - they just looked at me like I was an idiot.
Oh by the way, I do speak Italian and understand gestures.
Yes, free WiFi, but limited to lobby - not public areas as advertised (not at pool, outside patio, etc.)
Yes, free breakfast, good spread, but dark - you need to sit by window if you are use to light. They tend to be very conservative.
While value may have been good, not worth the staff aggravation and being in the middle of no where - if vacation was to get away and just lay by the pool for a few days, this may be a good locale.
Refrigerator was available in room, but not very cold despite adjustments.
Balcony yes, lovely, if you have a view. Awful if you are right above the smoking area patio because smoke travels up into your room.
