We had an impromptu visit to Laveno and stayed at Il Porticciolo. We had booked the Junior Suite, as this accommodated our family of three. The room was clean and large enough for our family. The staff was kind enough to have set up the bed for our son - which was REALLY nice after a busy day.

One of the main attractions to this hotel was the fact that it had air conditioning. However, this was not working the first night of our stay, bringing the room temperature up to 26.

When my wife asked for help, the owner of the property became rather defensive about the efforts to remedy the broken A/C. He was kind enough to offer us free breakfast and the night at no cost. We eventually moved rooms and it was a comfortable stay.

My pros are that this hotel is a quaint, family owned hotel that is on Lago Maggiore - VERY picturesque. Rooms are clean and well maintained. They boast that they have a Michelin one-star rated restaurant, which we regrettably did not take advantage of.

The issue I had was in some of the attitude we experienced the first day in being able to correct the issue with air conditioning. I am of the belief that there is a cultural issue - especially given that we are American - in that language can be a barrier.

I recommend this hotel for those that are looking for something quiet and not far off the beaten path. Laveno is a really pretty area with many areas accessible by boat or auto.

We had a great room with view on the lake. The location is somewhat hard to access on foot as you have to walk on the street; there is no pavement and the road has lots of turns. The wi-fi is not good at all. First, you need to give your details. Then, you either have to wait 30 seconds to login or be coerced into liking their Facebook page. What's worse, the signal is spotty at best. On the good side, if you want to go internet free it offers you a great chance. :)
The best thing with this hotel is arguably the restaurant's food. All plates we've tried (we've tried almost all of them... :) ) were above average. A select few (such as the sausage, the banana ice cream, and the lemon sorbet) were exquisite.

A lakeside inn with the dock on the property, this place has a very quiet environment while the restaurant is a Milcheln one - where the food is excellent. Sunrise is definitely a must to do in this place.

I was there for a business trip but I would come back as a couple.
The restaurant was very good as well.
There is nothing to complain about the room, breakfast or everything.

Yet, I find it could be a bit far from the airport and the highway network in IT is not very good.

We stayed in this nice small hotel for one night and I guess we were the only guests as the season was already over. The room was ok, clean and spacious. The best part of this hotel is the one Michelin star restaurant over looking the lake. Food and service were excellent!

Room tip: Remember to try the restaurant!
