The hotel was picked based on its location - I was attending a conference at Samsung Hall. It is simple, but very clean and also very close to city center. The breakfast was good and the restaurant offers a variety of dishes. The staff is really nice, very helpful indeed.

Bearing in mind that hotels are very expensive in Zurich, this hotel is reasonably priced and provided the basics for a good stay.
The location is off the city centre but can be reached easily by tram and bus. Dubendof city centre is about 20mins by walk which you can take a stroll to for some shopping at the supermarket.
The room is quite small and we were not used to the pillows provided as they are too soft. Luckily you can order different types of pillow from their pillow menu.
Breakfast is decent with the usual fares. The breakfast area serves as a restaurant for lunch and dinner which are not bad as there are not too many restaurants in the area.

Stayed there for 3 nights instead of nearer to the city centre as it was close to our friends home.
Hotels are really expensive in Switzerland. For the price paid, the room was compact and amenities were very basic. The mattress seemed slightly smaller than the usual queen size mattress and it was uncomfortable as we could feel that the spring in mattress were abit faulty. Pillows were flat but they do provide a pillow menu to address that.
Breakfast was quite delightful. The capsicum, cucumbers & tomatoes were fresh and sweet.

Indeed we are just 1 km away from the main train station Zurich-Stettbach which is easy accessible by foot or one bus stop. Also, you can take the tramway from Ringstrasse station directly to Zurich Airport (18 min.)
Too bad you haven't had the time exploring our wellness facilities including outdoor Bio-Pool and jaccuzzi together with three different saunas and a Hamam.
As for every 18 Sorell Hotels Switzerland brekfast is included in our room charges.

This was our first stop on our 6-week trip and we came to measure many of our later stays against it. The room was bright, clean, and rather roomy, considering the typically small rooms of Europe. Our pillows were pretty flat, and they gladly brought us more; the beds were typical European hotel, in that they were basically the size of 2 twins, a factor we remembered fondly when we stayed in later B&Bs that had only a double bed. Also, the beds were very comfortable, unlike some that we encountered later on our trip. The breakfast buffet was excellent, as was the staff. The hotel was on a major street, yet it was quiet, and, yes, we always sleep with our windows open. We would stay here again.

Disappointed with the tiny room, given the price.. no A/C, hot in summer. Also kinda far from the city centre, though it's a short walk (perhaps a kilometre?) to the bus/tram station. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant is really good though.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent stay.
We differentiate in two categories, standard and business. Whilst the standard category does not offer access to the rooms with an elevator and are facing the street, our business rooms in the main building do offer an elevator and you have immediate access to our sumptous wellness area (300 sqm). These rooms are also slightly lager in space.
I wouldn't agree with you in Terms of public transport. Both bus stop and tram station are in front of the hotel with easy access within 1 minute to the S-Bahn (Stettbach). You can also easily walk in 7 minutes to the train station which serves downtown Zurich within 5 minutes.
