Loved every minute of staying in this resort! Great customer service, beautiful property, delicious food and drinks, and a very busy diving/snorkeling schedule. I dove for the first time while there. They have morning and afternoon dives scheduled and you can go out late at night for a midnight dive as well. They sent us with a private van and private guide to Kawasan Falls and to go swimming with Whale Sharks. Both were incredible experiences. We wouldn't have been able to get as nice of an experience without them!

Great to hear that you had a good time. The combination trip of the whale sharks and the waterfalls is indeed big fun to do and we are happy that you loved it

My daughter and I shared a cottage at the resort and did a fairly intnse program of scuba diving. Facilities are excellent and dive and resort staff friendly, professional and go out of their way toprovide what we needed and wanted. The resort feels like a big family. Staff are all committed long term employees. Comfortable and very good value. Lovely food and drinks.

Room tip: Not wheelchair accessible. Terraced grounds. However it is a dive resort so guests would not find the steps troublesome.

Thank you Ruth that you liked our intense schedule of diving. We always hope that the relaxed divers love it as there are 2 dives in the morning and after that time for massage, reading, etc. For the dive-a-holics like you, we hope you are not too tired from the 3 to 4 dives a day

I am writing this review while enjoying the truly magnificent view of their house reef.
OK, let me start the review:

Pickup:
I arranged via email our pickup at Cebu and everything went smoothly. The 3h ride was an adventure and nothing for the light-hearted ones... ;-)

Arrival and check-in:
Once we step into the resort it was so peaceful and tranquil. The view of the calm sea and the mountains in the background is like heaven on earth.
Checkin went well. We got 2 cottages and they were arranged side-by-side as per my request. We got immediately a briefing for our diving, too. Not everywhere was my dive certification and dive experience being check like here. Very professional!

Rooms:
As mentioned, we got 2 cottages for my family of 4. Size is ok, but very clean and in very good condition even though the resort is more than 12 years old. Concheng, the Resort manager told me that they repaint the entire Resort yearly.

F&B:
No Buffet style of bf/lunch/dinner! Fantastic food choice of asian and western food.
You can even get Cordon Blue. Tons of fresh tropical fruit...their mango smoothie is a must try. My son had 2 glasses daily. :-)

Diving/snorkeling:
Their house-reef is in a very very good condition. Almost no coral bleeching. Turtles and sea snake is almost a guaranteed sighting on all our snorkelings. My wife just returned from her 1.5h snorkeling at the house reef...she saw 2 sea snakes...
One of the highlights of this dive trips was my first "Mandarin-Dive". To see how they mate was a delight. Don't miss the Sardine Dive, too. I unfortunately have to skip the fluro night dive. But i will come back!!!
The dive team at Magic Island managed by Rowena is a fantastic crew. Very professional, experienced and friendly.

Whaleshark diving and snorkeling:
I had initially mixed feelings about this trip. There is a daily whaleshark feeding that you can join. It is a very expensive trip but it is 100% guaranteed sighting. But after the trip i must say it is worth it. To dive and swim next to these giants was just a hell of an experience.

Overall:
In a nutshell, Magic Island Dive Resort is definitely highly recommendable for its great Service, cleanliness, great food and fantastic snorkeling and diving activities.
Keep it up Concheng and Rowena. And see you again soon.

We just wrapped up a 5 night stay at this resort. While I am a diver, we did not dive this trip as we only wanted to get away from our Cebu farm and relax as a couple. Everything about this resort was fantastic. Knowing a dive resort is mostly empty during the day...... we got the peace and quiet we were after. The bungalows are excellent in quality and cleanliness. Hot water and a very nicely stocked CR were a welcome convenience we do not always see. Each bungalow has a couple chairs in the front porch and we enjoyed our early mornings and evenings just relaxing on the porch. Bar was a nice treat one night and the kitchen staff made mealtime very enjoyable. We enjoyed the absence of tv...but of course we had free wifi so keeping up on news and in touch with family was easy. We made a couple trips in to Panagsama beach and found restos easy enough. 150 php trike each way. We just ended up staying in after a couple days and found the food at MIR outstanding. We did snorkel out their door and found a nice house reef and plenty to see and enjoy. From what I heard and saw...the divers all loved what they saw daily and chatted extensively about it in the evenings. Watching the dive trip prep we saw it very well planned and organized ....and on time departures. We are only 1 hour drive away and will consider diving with them when we next get away. We got exactly what we wanted this time.....much needed couple time in a nice place with great food and excellent surroundings. Thank you to all the staff that made our week ao enjoyable.

Hi Ron, thank you for pointing out that Magic Island is also an excellent place for relaxing. Indeed in the mornings one can have the resort for yourself as most of the guests are out for on the boats. And as you perfectly point out; sometimes you want to dive and sometimes you just want to relax and we are very happy that you got just that what you were looking for. We hope to see you again another time

The Magic Island Dive Resort is perfect for everyone who likes to dive and relax! The bungalows are very cozy, nice and with a view to the ocean or the pool. The team is always friendly and helping, the diveguides have an eye for soooo many details and the reefs and divespots are awesome! The sardine swarm is sooo impressive and definitely take the day-trip to Oslob, to dive with the whale sharks! In the evening they have a perfect 3 course menue, every day - awesome! So, strong recommendation to go there! :-)
