great diving and great service

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 4, 2016
Diving at the Philippines is great. Beautiful reefs and a lot of macro life, especially at Cebu and Bohol. We stayed at the Magic resorts and we can highly recommend them. Comfortable accommodations, good food and friendly staff and dive guides. So if you want to dive at Cebu or Bohol, go to the Magic resorts. Great holiday guaranteed! Marcel and Jeanette

Stayed here for 2 nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the lady workers at breakfast. The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms could be a step up based on the cost, but it served it's purpose. I suggest blankets for the beds. It's a comfort thing for me to sleep with a blanket and not only a sheet. Everything else was great. We are not divers so we didn't utilize those services, but the dive boats looked top notch and heard very good things. We only stayed here to do the canyoning at Kawasan Falls, which exceeded our expectations.

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear that the blanket was not in your room. It is normal that there is a big single size blanket and on request you could have had as many more as you wanted. Unfortunately we cannot change the size of the rooms anymore, but with the minibars and coffee-tea sets added last summer they are basic but complete

WOW !!
What an amazing place, we got there about 2 or 3 am ( trouble with flights) it was lit up and looked beautiful. The staff had stayed up to welcome us all with food and drinks, first impressions was great. Rooms were a good size and I couldn't wait to see the rest in daylight. WOW ! This place is beautiful, the staff are great and the diving crew are so helpful, plenty of places to dive we loved the mango shakes after diving or just relaxing by the pool. If you are reading this This is the place to stay we are booked for next year and are counting the months down.

Hello Arie / Desiree -

Just as I settled down to write this report, I see that Facebook has once again changed how things appear so . . . I am writing directly to you so you can post this on your site.

Having been to the glorious islands of the Philippines four times, my observations and experiences cause me to want to share my findings and feelings. To begin with, the people of the Philippines are fabulous. But . . . the point I wish to make is . . . There's NO PLACE LIKE HOME. At both Magic properties, you arrive as a valued guest and leave as treasured family.

Both Magic Island and Magic Oceans go above and beyond in how their guests are treated, respected, guided and entertained. We always feel "at home" and comfortable throughout every aspect of our trip. Friendly and knowledgeable dive guides ask what critters we want or hope to see then make every effort to make it happen. The animals are never relocated for our pleasure but rather the guides know where the critters hang out and live. After all, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME . . .

Of all the places in all the world, so far, our favorite is - by far - the Magic properties in the Philippines.

We've been there 4 times and WILL RETURN again and again.

Thumbs up all the way across the board. You guys are GREAT and your staff is phenomenal. The food is good and plentiful too. Being from New Orleans, that's a BIG compliment.

Respectfully,

Cindy Caldwell

Dearest Cindy, like so many before you you arrived as a guest and left as a friend. As we were blessed to see you more often, both at our resorts and at exhibitions, we can say you have become very dear friends. What we value a lot is that you will not shy away to tell if something is not good and that you will leave no moment wasted to say Hi to our team of us. Respectfully, Arie and Desiree

5 frog fishes in one dive and a singing Manuel; that is amazing! We did not move the fish specially for you :-). We are keen to please our guests and divers so singing is allowed underwater. It pleases us to hear that you had a great time and we are happy that you also had a chance to meet Arie and Desiree as they are traveling between the two resorts.

My husband, son and I dove with Magic Island in late August. The staff there is what makes this place so special. Everyone was so friendly and hard working. Cocheng knew how to meet our every need. I arrived first, as the other two were coming from a business trip. SInce my travel time was approximately 27 hours, Cocheng knew I'd need to rest. Although our cottage wasn't yet ready, she provided another one that I could use in the meantime to work on my jet lag.
The diving was great! Our dive master, Dennis, knew his stuff and showed us a good time. He even saved my husband from getting a headful of sea urchin when he was trying to get a closer look at a mandarin fish.
JaJa's beautiful smile always made our day.
The only downsides were too much pork for dinner, although we were told by other divers that the resort was having trouble getting fresh seafood. Also, I wasn't prepared for the VERY long trip to and from the airport. But I guess I could have researched that better!

Room tip: I would recommend the upstairs cottage if you'd like a view.

Great to hear that you loved the service on arrival and during your whole stay. Yes, our team tries very hard to make you happy and pleased. With regards to the pork, yes unfortunately the supply of fish is not always working, it depends on the season, the weather but also that the seas are not that full of fish as they were long ago. We, as resort, have the policy that we first do not serve reef fish and second only open-sea fish that has been caught by the local fishermen using line and hook. That's is our small way to help the environment. If you did not like the pork almost everyday, you could have opted to order a-la-card, but I do hope that you understand our reason why we like to keep the fish on the reef
