The penthouse apartment was perfect for us, spacious and luxurious. The fact you can’t use the kitchen was not a problem, who wants to cook whilst on holidays? Breakfast was amazing, lunch and dinner too. We did venture out to other nearby restaurants too, all within walking distance. We didn’t dive, but its a great base to visit Apo island, snorkelling with the whale sharks at Oslob and a day tour around Valencia ( all arranged by myself at a much cheaper rate than the hotel). The view and pool were amazing and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent location for a family diving trip. The penthouses with beach view are spacious, very stylish and provide privacy in combination with room for get togethers as a family. The small boutique hotel with only nine rooms has an overall intimate atmosphere and the team really knows how to treat clients with kindness.
This is an important aspect also when it comes to diving. As newly certified divers we enjoyed perfect guidance by the instructors Dave and Ryan during our very first ocean dives as a family of four. The dive shop is very well equipped with perfect regulators, computers, etc.

Room tip: The Penthouses are ideal for families.

Dear Scott & Marissa,

Thank you very much for such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you returned to celebrate Christmas at Salaya this year.

Since you were here, we've been busy adding some new features to the resort:

Reflections - our new luxury spa with 4 private treatment rooms that include a water wall and koi pond.

There are also three new Cabanas that have been added to the front of the property, overlooking the ocean.

We look forward to seeing the three of you back again soon. Until then, best wishes from all the team at

We came as a group of four large families (28 pax, many small children) with the intention of visiting the Oslob Whalesharks, Apo Island Turtles, and nearby waterfalls/hikes. After four nights at Salaya we had clear concensus: 5/5, A++, excellent service, food, amenities, staff, etc. Here are some things that stood out:

-The staff were extremely warm, kind, welcoming and did everything they could to maximize our enjoyment.

-On each of our day tours Salaya sent multiple staff as our personal guides and escorts (in addition to the local guides stationed at each destination)

-The managers Marc and Carol do an awesome job of ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained at the resort. From the kitchen to the dive shop, they keep it classy.

-The restaurant menu and food exceeded expectations! The cuisine is modern, tasty, and includes a great variety to fit everyone's taste buds. Tip: try the macaroni and cheese! (you'll order it at every meal from that point on)

-The rooms/facilities are immaculate, spacious, beautifully designed, and all feature a magnificent view of the ocean.

-I have to mention how awesome it was to have consistent hot water in every shower I took; despite the fact that there were so many people in our room/group. Hot showers are a rare luxury this far out in the province!

-The beach in front of the resort is the famous and beautiful black sand variety. The house reef / marine sanctuary for snorkeling did not disappoint. It's best visited when there is less wind for greater visibility. We also enjoyed a lot of paddle boarding.

-Salaya handled all our logistics for airport transfers; which went very smooth and we all appreciated the piping hot towels to refresh our senses. They also had these for us on each day trip/tour we did.

In summary, Salaya did not disappoint and we're looking forward to our next visit!

My wife and I had a wonderful, memorable experience at Salaya Beach Houses. We stayed there for 9 nights in early Nov. 2022, as part of a group of 13 experienced scuba divers, most of whom we’ve traveled with before. We had never been to the Philippines before, but many in our group had visited the country before and I’d say that everyone in the group had a great time. We loved our time there. The resort is not large (it’s maximum capacity is around 28 people) but it’s very beautiful and clean, truly one of the nicest looking resorts we saw on the Dauin coast. The accommodations were spacious and very comfortable, and the food was just fantastic (we had an all-inclusive plan). The menu had so many great items that we didn’t have enough days to try everything! But the best thing about the Salaya Beach Houses is the people - the operators, Carol and Marc, and all the wonderful staff. We were treated so well, and time and again the staff went out of their way to accommodate us, such as Carol wrangling oatmeal for us even though it wasn’t on the menu, and the staff erecting a canopy everyday so that my wife and I could eat lunch outdoors on the beautiful lawn and in the shade. We loved our early evenings by the pool, getting the mocktail of the day from the bar and just relaxing before dinner. All of the Staff were so kind and friendly, and after 10 days with them many of them felt like family to us - certainly some became friends that we really hated to leave.

The dive operation at Salaya Beach Houses is excellent. The dive staff worked very hard and we had a great time on the dive boats (the snacks for the dive intervals were fantastic: fresh mango, watermelon, and pineapple everyday, and usually some fresh baked treats; Carol has some great recipes!) The diving itself was easy, with very warm water (84-85F degrees), and we saw a lot of the cool marine critters that the Philippines is known for. The visibility while muck diving was actually pretty good, and we highly recommend diving at Apo Island, which has beautiful reefs and great visibility.

Salary Beach Houses is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly place that gave us wonderful memories. We hope we’ll be lucky enough to visit again.

Room tip: Salaya Beach Houses can arrange a number of excursions. Opportunities to walk anywhere (except just a beach stroll) are pretty limited.

Dear Guide00279616373,

What a fabulous review - thank you both for providing such a detailed account of your stay with us, and for the five star feedback ★★★★★

We thoroughly enjoyed having your dive group stay with us, and it brings the entire team joy to know that you had such a good time.

We're really hoping that you will all be back again for more diving, great food, and fire dancing!

Best wishes to you both in Hawaii,

from all of us at Salaya Beach Houses
