“Great to Dive and Great to Stay”
Reviewed February 13, 2017

We went to Evolution as a mixed group of divers and non divers.

The resorts accomodation was well priced and great quality. The restaurant serve some great food and staff botin the restaurant and dive shop were most welcoming and helpful throughout.

For Divers the diving was excellent and the guides were very informative and supportive of divers whose experience was limited.

We would go again in a few years we think. It was a great experience.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in December 2016 over Christmas and New Year.
Prior to arrival the communication with the team was very professional. They arranged all of our transfers to and from Cebu which were all stress free and seamless. The drivers were always there ahead of time, the handover between the taxi and the boat transfer to Malapascua was seamless, and when arriving on the island we were greeted on the beach by smiling and enthusiastic reception team - a very warm welcome.
The rooms are chic, simple and spacious. We had room 12, and upper floor garden room with aircon and fan. It was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and a third bed was provided for our daughter which still left plenty of space.
The rooms were cleaned daily, the sheets changed every three days, absolutely not complaints about cleanliness or service.
Reception was manned until 9:00 pm. You were encouraged to hand in the room key when you left the premises, after 9:00 pm an all night watchman is on site who has access to the keys.
I have stayed in more expensive hotels where inter-room noise is an issue, the room block is well built with absolutely no inter-room disturbances, even when your neighbors have set their alarms for 05:30 to do the dawn thresher shark dive!
The whole operation is slick, the office staff polite, the site is spotless with the groundsmen constantly grooming the resort sand, picking up leaves and raking the sand. A resort where barefoot living is the reality!
Evolution is a great, relaxing, quiet place to stay, other resorts have more neon and flashing lights - but are these really necessary for paradise island living!
We loved our experience at Evolution - the owners Matt and David have created a great environment that we thoroughly enjoyed - thank you!

Stayed here for 9 nights with my family incl two kids.
The hotel is situated on the wonderful Bounty beach, but at the very east tip so it is nice and quiet.
Beautiful white sand and clean water at sea. No vendors on the beach.
We had two bungalows near the beach just opposite from the restaurant The Craig House with great food.
The whole area is covered with white sand so you don't need any shoes at all during your stay.
Rooms are nice and bathrooms spacious. All nice and clean.
The staff is wonderful, very friendly and personal.

I stayed at Evolution for 9 nights and dived with them. I have a separate review for Evolution diving, so here I will only focus on the resort. They have two types of rooms, I chose the smaller fan room. It was great. Very good and comfy beds, clean towels, toiletries, big bathroom with hot shower. The room I stayed in was in a quite place, still it was 1 minute to the dive center and the beach. The resort is located in a lovely part of Malapascua, with white sand beach and this area was protected from the wind which also translated into calm sea.
Dive center is accessible easily till around 9 pm, later there is a guard 24 hours. The staff are sure friendly and very efficient. Everything was smooth. I had a little issue - the knob on a bath room door was rusty (very high humidity in the area!) and I asked to tape it over or replace. Was done immediately.
Breakfast in Craic house is included, it has a lot of options: from Filipino to traditional, to eggs, crepes and sandwiches. The restaurant in general is very good. I did not bother to look for other places. It's very convenient to stay at the resort if you are diving with Evolution. Logistics become seamless.
I absolutely loved my stay.

My friend who is a technical diving instructor elsewehere recommended to do my TDI Deco Procedures and Advanced Nitrox combo with Evolution. Good tech training is worth traveling for a little and I wanted to see treshers sharks.

Had only one morning reserved for treshers, but that was enough! Saw plenty and few came up close. Boat crew and dive masters are very professional (I've been working in the industry for three years so I have an idea).

Did the courses with Daniel Holmstedt. He is an extremely patient and friendly person, therefore perfectly suited to be an instructor. I really liked many of the teaching philosophies and techniques used and will adopt them myself. Feedback was given so that the student had always room to improve further, but done in a very pleasant manner.

Food at the resort is great and the waitresses must all be former Miss Visayas. I especially enjoyed the genuine feel around the resort. You had company when you wanted to, but it wasn't pushy or fake. It was nice to talk about other things than mantas and turtles all the time.
