We have ordered from Hins many times over the past few years, mostly on line. The food has always been delivered on time, tasty and no problems arising, however this was not to be on our last delivery!
Saturday evening order placed 3x dishes, 2 sides and sauce. Order, total amount and delivery address clearly shown on "Your Order" print out on hubbies tablet. Delivery time stated at 8.09pm some considerable time after placing the order but we were happy to wait.
Delivery time came and went and we were absolutely starving! Hubby rang the shop to be told it was on it's way. Ten minutes later still no food, tried to call the shop again but no answer. Then get a message to say delivery is now running late and will be an extra 40 minutes past the original delivery time stated!
At approximately 9.20pm our intercom was pressed, gate opened for the delivery driver and our order placed which was in a soggy bottomed cardboard box was placed on our doorstep, the receipt cellotaped on the top. We always have the correct money ready to pay the delivery driver along with an extra £1 as a tip. The driver (female) then proceeded to ask for £4 extra than the original total price. We said that was not correct and that we had the money ready to pay for what was stated on our order form. We where then told no payment no food!! We explained we were going to pay but only the original price we had written on the order and why was there an extra £4 added on. The receipt was ripped off the top of the order and shown to us, all written in what looked like chinese, delivery address and price being £4 extra. We showed her the tablet with the order written on and the price we were paying, she did not know why there was an extra £4 added on, said she was only the delivery person and proceeded to ring her boss for me to speak too. We said we did not want to speak to her boss, we just wanted to pay and go and eat our food which had already been delivered very late past the original stated time. Her boss informed her that she was to collect payment with the extra £4, we refused to give that, the original total amount that we had ready was handed over which she was not happy with. She was still wanting to disagree over the final receipted amount so we said we had paid, were starving and therefore picked the box of food up and shut the door.
On getting the food inside the cardboard box that it was sat in the bottom was found to be damp and soggy, obviously things had been in there a while. All food was cold and one of the side dishes so badly burnt that it was not edible at all!!
This experience with Hins has left us very disappointed and upset, order delivered extremely late (no apologies given for this), more money demanded on delivery and on finally getting to eat the food to find it cold and burnt! Needless to say we will not be ordering from Hins again.
