Visited chengdu last night with the family when we came for a movie at the glen.
The place was well presented and looked like a new addition to the Glen strip. Inside had a red theme and a huge seating area. The place was pretty busy!
The menu looks amazing with several choices and variations.
The staff had a language barrier; but were friendly and willing to help.
I must say when we placed the order the food arrived super quick and looked pretty delicious.
The food tasted... different however I’m not sure if it was by design or mistake it was extremely oily. You could actually feel the oily after taste.
The potions pretty decent but cost a pretty penny. The two of us had 3 dishes and a rice costing roughly about $100
All in all it was an ok.. but might consider other restaurants next time.

Went here for dinner and was impressed by the flashy photos in the window and looks of the food being served. Well that's pretty much where the good points stopped. Shown to a table by a pleasant staff member, looked through the glossy menu and ordered the Sliced Beef with black pepper, salt & pepper calamari, fried rice and chicken & corn soup off a waitress that really couldn't be bothered. The rice cam out first....3 minute wait till the beef came out. Looked nice.. tasted, well, OK at best. Not very peppery and little to no chilli heat. No worries, maybe the S&P Calamari will impress. It did...in looks, it was neither salty or peppery and tasted like fried rubber with expired batter - we ate about 4 pieces of the $19.00 dish and left it. The $15.80 fried rice was pretty average and cold by the time out other mains got to us and finally the soup came out. Or should I say, water with bits of corn in it. Tasteless liquid, 3 spoonfuls and it too was left. Overall with 2 drinks it was $72 and we really only enjoyed half of the $19 beef. Food was below satisfactory, especially with heaps of competition in Kingsway.
ALSO - it is noisy....very noisy. If there are kids screaming and throwing tantrums, you will leave this place with ringing in your ears, eating behind the engine of a 747 would be more pleasant, at least you get to smell jet fuel.
Overall this was an expensive waste of food and money. Avoid this place and look for another venue along this strip fo shops.

I went here with my in laws and my wife recently and we were very pleased with the evening. We all had individual hot pots. The soup was well flavored and there is a fairly wide selection broth bases and ingredients to choose from. Everything was well proportioned and tasted great. Service was good, but when it is busy you really have to try to grab a servers attention. My only criticisms center around charging extra for access to the “sauce bar” ( it should really just be built into the costs of the hot pot and ingredients) and I really would have liked to have my soup base more spicy. Overall a great meal and an enjoyable evening. I will be visiting again soon.

What started off as a great experience quickly went downhill. We went to Chengdu Taste and ordered the spring onion pancakes, steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. On a side note the spring onion pancakes were actually quite delicious and one of the best i've had. However, upon being served the pancakes and the steam dumplings first, i went straight away to get the sauces for the dumplings from the condiment table. One bite into the dumpling and it was barely warm inside and the skin of the dumpling especially the edges where they seal them off was cold. We kindly asked a female staff member over, who not only put her finger on one of the dumplings to see whether it was cold, but continued to ask us how long ago we had received the dumplings. We said only moments ago (i would say a max of 2 minutes, maybe 3 being generous), she proceeded to say she would go and ask the chef, but did not come back (please note, there was only about 3 other tables with other customers sitting down, so it was not busy at all, the staff were talking, polishing cutlery and eating). Not long after, a male waiter arrived with our fried dumplings, as soon as they were put down on the table, we noticed that almost every single dumpling on the plate was COMPLETELY burnt at the bottom. We kindly asked the male waiter over again and asked if he would be happy being served that as a customer, he didn't even given an answer, but clearly looked like he agreed. The boy let us know that the steamed dumplings which we were served first were given to us as soon as the chef has finished "steaming them", and didn't offer to remake the dumplings or even re-steam the ones we had already (which the waitress had touched). He said he would get back to us regarding the fried dumplings but never came back, walking past our table multiple times to serve other tables but didn't acknowledge or come back with a response. This was EXTREMELY disappointing and frustrating as out of many many restaurants i have eaten out at, they have always tried to rectify the situation, even if in a small way. We left, not only unhappy, with unfinished plates, no longer an appetite, but feeling like we were the ones who were to blame having not eaten the dumplings while they were hot (even though we started eating the steamed ones a couple of minutes after we were given them, as that was the only response when we kindly spoke to the staff. The girl at the counter who took our payment was friendly. But overall, a terrible experience and we most definitely won't be returning sadly.
