What a lovely local experience in Monteverde. Tasty local fare and super friendly waiters. Beer and fajitas hard to beat for lunch. A definite to visit if you are in the area.

If you're looking for some delicious Costa Rican dishes, this is a great option in the Monteverde area. I tried the vegetarian version, which consisted of egg, salad, beans, veggies, rice, and plantain; while my husband had the chicken. We both enjoyed our dishes and thought the price was reasonable also. If you're not looking for typical Costa Rican dishes, there are other options to choose from as well. This place has something for everyone and is worth a visit.

After a three-hour flight from Atlanta, a four-hour drive up to Monteverde, and a forty-minute delay waiting for road construction to clear, we were starving by the time we reached Santa Elena, which was shrouded in a cold, misty rain. We were fortunate enough to stumble into Tico y Rico for our first meal in Costa Rica. We ordered a pair of casado tipicos, a hearty Costa Rican staple consisting of a meat (fish, chicken, pork, beef) with rice and beans, salad, and potatoes. With warm, wonderful service, and a delicious horchata, this was one of our favorite meals all week.

Small restaurant with kind staff. Waited a bit before getting a chance to order even through the restaurant was half empty. It was for lunch and we got good guidance from the waiter.

The restaurant is clean, has friendly staff and good food. We had the arroz con pollo and liked it so well that we returned the next day for a repeat. It was just as good the second day.
