Despite myself and a few friends coming to Alvor out of the typical young clubbing season (usually between May and August) the Sports Cafe was open most of the day and didn't close until 4am, so there was plenty of time to head out for a few drinks if we felt perked up later in the evening.

Every time we arrived we were greeted in a welcoming and fun manner by the bartender, who had by this point performed his first night running most of the venue and yet still took the time to intermittently check up on all the guests, pour the drinks himself and take orders, all of which were done very quickly. There was a lot to see in the actual bar/cafe, with plenty of interesting items of decor, a brilliant little upstairs section complete with a pinball machine, and of course, multiple screens ranging from 36" to a full projector showing the most popular live sports (usually football, but also golf or rugby).

During our final night there, the bartender had given us 2 rounds of free shots and even recognised that one of our friends wasn't with us this time (as he'd stayed at the hotel) and this just added to the overall sense that the staff genuinely noticed little things about the guests. The music was very lively and it was bustling (which again was impressive considering this was a few months out of peak tourist season) and at least 3x more so than any of the other establishments down the strip, although admittedly the other ones were more about chilled pubs or romantic restaurants.

Cheap cocktails, drinks and bottles, welcoming vibes, friendly staff, plenty of sports to watch, cosy atmosphere and a wide range of food and drink to choose from will certainly please all ages, regardless of the time of year. Definitely give this one a go if you find yourself in Alvor.

Seven of us were in town for three nights on a stag weekend. We were in this bar every evening after dinner until late. Great atmosphere, really friendly staff, good music and a nice place be. Great deals on drinks too!
