We attended an evening of dining with entertainment one night during our visit to Marksburg. The entertainers were very entertaining, providing us with music, juggling, and acrobatics. We enjoyed a meal of soup and suckling pig, chicken, pork tenderloin, and stew, with a tasty yogurt based dessert. We had a great evening.

Beautiful castle well kept up but not an easy walk for seniors or any one with a disability. I am in good shape but the very rocky and uneven terrain at the first entrance was perilous do to poor lighting and stairs too were difficult at places. My husband loved it!

Flumkuchen with goat cheese was good. Desserts were good. My wild burger (boar) was good. Kids ate bratwurst. Nice place to eat for a fair price in this rural area. The castle was awesome; even with the tour in Deustch, which I don't speak.

I note in my review that we were a group of 50 plus, and after visiting the castle had a set meal at the Schanke. The food was reasonably plentiful, but this was clearly not a fine dining venue....so criticism of the quite ordinary fare would be unreasonable. Entertainment was on offer....a bit 'hokey', but the musicians were good. A court jester performed for the group....bit of a hack....relying for his 'laughs' on unsuspecting patrons. If bald, have a comb over or carry a few extra pounds.....don't sit anywhere near the performance area!
Overall, dinner here spoilt a very interesting and enjoyable visit to the castle.
Think hard on this one, but may be more enjoyable outside of a group. Wouldn't go back.

This beautiful castle is known as the most undamaged and well preserved in Germany. Of all the castles you can tour along the Rhine River, this one presents the most comprehensive picture of life as it was during the prime of it's time! From the gardens which grow the herbs used in cooking, medicine, and witch craft during the day, to the blacksmith area where horses were shod, and other work done, to the unique indoor toilet, it is a must see. The kitchen area especially gives a detailed look into the life of the times! This is a must see in Germany!
