“a splendid gem of a resort”

Heringsdorfer Strand
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 7 August 2017

A busy hub in the middle, buzzing with bikes and lots to see and do. A stroll along the pier is relaxing, the 'cinema in the sea' is fun to see - genuinely a screen in the sea with audience in deckchairs with headphones on the beach. Away from the centre the beach is big enough for everyone to find their own space and piece of tranquillity - a great place to bring the family.

If the Emperors liked it we must like it too. Wonderful beach of one of the Kaiserbäder - Emperors Baths - nicely renovated after the reunification of Germany. You can feel the luxury even if you don't stay in a 5* Hotel or in a private Villa. Clean beach, quite, nice sea.

Many parts are not crowded and you can walk for miles and miles. You can either rent a "Strandkorb" or sit on your own towels. The breeze on warm days is soothing, and on colder days refreshing. The climate is just amazing, clean air and relaxing views.
The sand is amazing. The water too cold for most people.

The beaches on this island are beautiful. They can be a bit crowded during the season, but a walk towards the border with Poland will help. Lots of dunes and lovely (almost) white sand.
