We came to Santorini on our honeymoon and had this restaurant recommended to us!
The whole experience was amazing, the food was delicious and the views was out of this world. A guy who I can only presume was the owner - Constantino - he explained the meals, asked our reviews on the dishes and recommended some amazing desserts. Thank you for the experience and this wonderful memory. X

We had heard a lot about this restaurant and had to book well in advance to get a table. Unfortunately they only had a table inside but this did not matter because it was unfortunately quite windy and cool outside. Inside is not very atmospheric and you are distracted by the staff going in and out or just standing around. Our table was not properly laid when we arrived and we did not feel particularly welcomed. The food however was excellent.

It was our first night in santorini and found this place through trip advisor. The reviews were very good so we decided to eat here for dinner and experience the must-see sunset of santorini. It was a bit tricky to find as there are no signs --- and we found out later from the owner it's because the establishments along the way removed their signs---probably afraid of competition! Anyway it was worth the mini-trek we had. My husband and I were lucky to get a seat .. the staff were very attentive and the owner himself was going around in each table chatting with the diners. The food was amazing ..from the appetizer..to the santorini salad..to the Olympus pig and black linguini ...finished off with the most amazing baklava I've ever had! It wasn't worth every penny..and our bill was very reasonable considering we also had a bottle of wine. We spent less than €150--which would have been more expensive if we ate at a similar place back home. So to anyone reading this review --- this place comes highly recommended! It's truly worth a visit or two...maybe we'll have our last santorini dinner here again ☺️

Our visit to The Athenian House was our first meal in Santorini and we chose there to celebrate my partner's birthday. We were not disappointed and the food, views and service definitely matched our high expectations from previous reviews and photos.

We were seated outside overlooking the amazing view and the sunset and were brought a complimentary starter and bread which was a nice touch. I had the fava to start which was presented unusually, smoking in a jar, and the flavours were spot on and also very filling! My partner had the cheese pie which he loved and also came presented beautifully. For our mains we had the lobster and the moussaka, which was a different take on this local dish and I absolutely loved. We were worried the portions may be small due to reading previous reviews, but we felt they were sufficient and were so full at the end!

As we were too full for desert we initially declined anything from the menu, however shortly after were brought a complimentary desert - a light mouse with fruit and biscuit crumbs, which the waitress explained should be light enough for us to try which we found very thoughtful and a nice touch. Following this the owner came round and spoke to us about our stay and thanking us for our presence which was a lovely end to the experience.

Our only slight complaint was that, although the service was attentive, we did find it a bit over the top and wished there had been longer time between each staff attending to our needs as it felt a bit repetitive and too much at times. That said, the staff were warm and approachable, and this did not detract from the amazing time we had at The Athenian House.

We visited the Athenian House with very high expectations, given the numerous positive reviews we had read. Most of the times when I go somewhere with such high expectations, reality hits me hard and I get disappointed with the end result; this was not the case with the Athenian House.

Everything and everyone helped us in making this one of the best dinners of our lives. Starting with the location itself which is breathtaking with one of the best views (I dare say worldwide), going to the service which is extremely professional and tentative making sure that everyone enjoys their dinner, to the hosts who try to make you feel as if you were guest at their house.

The best thing about the Athenian House however is the most important factor when judging a restaurant: the food itself.

Everything we ordered was exquisitely prepared. Starting from the "cheese pie" with 3 different cheeses from nearby islands, going to the smoked fava bean purée with white truffle and caramelised onions, to the updated version of the "Athinaiki salad which are all brilliant starters. Next stop the main courses with probably one of the best vegetarian dishes you can find anywhere in Greece, the "white aubergine risotto". Their version of the (probably most famous Greek dish) moussaka, is spectacular; modern yet so true to itself. Finally, the desserts will make you feel guilt for having to spend an extra hour of swimming the next day to get rid of those calories but they are so worth it. Do try their version of the baklava, with a peanut butter/chocolate mousse between sheets of caramelised pastry and salted caramel!

To accompany your dinner you can chose one of the three cocktails all of which are prepared with local spirits. Following that you can trust the restaurant's sommelier's proposal. All offered wines are really worth trying but I would insist on trying one of the local varieties and especially the "Asyrtiko", the grape variety Santorini is becoming world famous for.

All in all, it's a truly unique experience and is worth cashing out for one night as this is something you will probably never experience again.
