Very nice place - country side restaurant with quite old authentic facility. Area is at a very country side inbetween vinyards, orchards and grassland. They do have a beautiful garden restaurant and very authentic farmyard with old cobblestones, which can be booked as well for festivity.

Food is regional cooking with excellent quality, while pricing is affordable. We have been there over years for lunch and dinner. This place is a sparkler. Timely reservation needed.

Thanks to the lovely warm summer climate, Baden-Wurttemberg boasts an enormous number of restaurants with beautiful outdoor settings. Just when I think I have seen the prettiest, I find another, as was the case recently with the Gasthof Ochsen. A beautiful setting off the beaten track, this has everything to ensure you have a lovely experience - delicious food and wines, attentive service and a beautiful garden. Our lunch on a sunny day was a treat, and quite different from what you would expect of a place in the middle of nowhere. Your meal gets underway with an 'amuse bouche' from the kitchen, and then we shared a starter of brawn in aspic with a herb sauce and 'Rösti' potatoes. My husband enjoyed the octopus and thyme potatoes, and I had the sauteed goose liver. The restaurant offers small and large portions which is great when you are keen to try as much as possible!

What can be better than going for dinner on a snowy white evening to a village inn/restaurant where the food is delicious and the decor soo very cosy??!! It was a wonderful experience....the snow outside and all the Christmas lights and Christmas trees, then the warm ambience inside. It has been in the hands of the same family for 250 years and has been a restaurant all this time. How can it not be cosy?? - Low ceilings, wooden beams, an old green enamelled furnace (don't actually know what it is called), a decorated Christmas tree, wooden seating all around and old household items used in the decor. And, above all that, we had a delicious meal. I chose the menu - soup, main course and dessert for 26E. All perfect.
I cannot recommend the Ochsen enough. If you are ever in this area of Germany, I highly recommend you to visit.
I understand it is also a guesthouse, but, we did not see the rooms so I cannot say anything, but, judging from the restaurant, it must be a very authentic and special experience to stay here.

Spent a great 3-hour lunch at Gasthof Ochsen. Very good food, with "hunt-dishes" available, a great host (that spoke English and French on top of his native German).

Nice place, with secluded rooms which was great as we were 10 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs!

Overall a very good experience at 25Euros/person (including wine, beers and desserts!)
