Charming!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 18, 2017via mobile
Such a charming place to stay. I am a sucker for boutique hotels and this one is just so warm. The interior is lovely that it makes you feel like chilling at home. Clean and the staffs are nice. Near the key places in Dumaguete. I will definitely stay here if i went back tonDumaguete! 👌

From busy schedule in Manila, we flew to Cebu for a rapid hybernation and from then, without any plans at all we decided to visit and have a quick glance of Dumaguete City. While sailing, i browse the internet and chose Island Leisure Boutique Hotel for our overnight accomodation. I have no idea about the hotel. We were welcomed by artistic interiors and ofcourse, the very hospitable team and they even escorted us to the room. This boutique hotel is quiet small yet full of positive energy.
Special mention to your "Shih Tzu" receptionist. My attention foccused with this cute little dog. Im not into pet, but my thingking was reformed because of "billy".
We encountered unique situation when regard to aircondition unit of our room. The temperature keeps increasing and its really difficult for us to take a sleep. Thank you so much Carlo and Dexter (trainee) for extending your assistance and for allowing us to move to another room for the last minute. You need more of them!
Once again thank you very much!
'Til then.....

Staff is very accommodating with our requests. They allowed us take a quick shower even after checkout since our Apo Island trip finished at around 5pm. Would appreciate windows in our room since I tend to have claustrophobia attacks, but nonetheless, everything is great during our stay!

Essentially I was going to leave a review to highlight the positives about this hotel but it nearly ruined our holiday on checkout.

We flew from Manila to Dumegete to stay for 3 days and do 2 tours, Apo island and Oslob Whale sharks.

We spoke to the manager and he could arrange tour for 500p pre person. Within a group of 8. This was a really good offer but we would have like to do a private tour and pay extra for me and partner.

A notice on reception for tours highlighted tours for 3500 per destination. This had apo island and oslob sharks so we opted for this. So we were looking to pay 7000p for the 2 tours. We knew this was a very high price offered by the Hotel after enquiring to a few locals but we decided to take it as the hotel service was friendly and we would be giving them business.

On checking out we were bill 15,000 peso for the tours!! 8,000 for apo island and 7000 for oslob. We immediately questioned the prices and we were told this was pre person by the laughing manager and not per destination. Even tho the sign says per destination!!
Then we asked why 8,000 for apo? He replied this was a mistake and changed to 7,000. So 14,000 for 2 tours. Nearly £240/$280

We were then asked if wanted to pay by card, we said yes. Without even checking the manager smiled and said it's not working, cash only.
So we emptied our wallets, paid and left for our next destination both feeling like we've been f&@ked over.

We toured all our the Philippines and not one other private tour cost us more than 4000 for 2 people. Including island hoping tours in coron!!

This left a bad taste in our mouth for a few days and the start to our holiday.

All our other hotels, tours and guides were amazing! Just avoid this one if don't want to get ripped off.

We visited for 6 days. Got the Premiere Lounge and Duo Pad. The rooms are clean and worth its value. Tv (all channels) Aircon (good condition) Showers (Good pressure) Common Area like the pool was clean the lounge and the fountain area. Decent breakfast was included and is cooked to order.
Staff where friendly and very helpfull. We did Oslob Whale Shark tour, Siqiour Tour and Apo tour with the hotel. Staff are all knowledgeable when it comes to the island tours. Joey, Sheila, Januarie, Michael and all the staff are a lot of fun to be with. Island Leisure Also have this two cute shitzu that welcomes you soon as you get back to the hotel.
Will definitely come back again
Giving this place a 4.5/5 rating.

Common areas and reception is no doubt picture perfect. However, the beauty only lasts there.

Booked a double room with shared bathroom. The room initially given to us was small, stuffy, and the aircon took very long to take effect.

Upon coming back to the room at night, we found out that the key given to us did not work on our room, and the doorknob was broken. Took the staff about an hour before successfully opening the room. We had to transfer to another room using the same key. Very strange.

Shared bathroom is a single T&B, three rooms share this. Imagine the hassle when all three rooms are booked. Also, water goes out in the wee hours of the night. Found this out the hard way, as our itinerary requires us to get up at 3am, finding out that we cannot take a bath nor use the toilet since no water was available that time. Water comes back at around 5am.

Can't recommend this place. There are waaaaay better accommodations in Dumaguete than here, at a cheaper price.

Room tip: If you're booking the Double room w/ shared bathroom, ask for the one with a mini-ref and cabinet.
