We are just leaving this wonderful hotel perfect end after a 6 day safari in Tanzania. The food, people and location are amazing. The staff ensures your stay is comfortable and the chef pays close attention to detail and presentation in the delicious, fresh cuisine. We enjoyed walking on the rocky beach at low tide and swimming right off the ladder at high. The breeze by the lounge beds is fantastic during the day and happy hour is amazing by the salt water pool. Stay here, spend your time and relax!

We are so glad that we chose to come to The Zanzibari after an interesting but very strenuous sightseeing trip in Oman. Everything was exactly what we had hoped for and in many decades of travelling all over the world have found so seldom - authentic local character, small scale, well trained and extremely friendly staff and absolutely fantastic food by a really talented and imaginative chef who would put quite a few London chefs to shame!
We loved our week in one of the Frangipani villas, plenty of space for 2 people, absolute heaven to lounge around the really nice plunge pool and just walk through an opening in the hedge for a more energetic swim in the proper pool. A special daily treat was breakfast in our villa brought by two broadly smiling girls from the restaurant. What better way to start yet another busy day being lazy. We looked forward to every evening meal wondering what the chef would have dreamt up, such a clever fusion of local and international influences and using so many fresh local ingredients. After a week we really felt at home in The Zanzibari and were very sad to leave. We will try to come again and then for longer. What better antidote to snow bound London!
We hope that by then Fabiola and her crew will have dealt with the one criticism we had - the lack of through draught on the ground floor, especially in the bathroom area. Otherwise please just keep everything as it is and don't destroy the unique charm of The Zanzibari.
From the globetrotters Irene and Hector

Room Tip: Worth spending the extra money on one of the two Frangipani villas, marvellous position and ocean view

Our 9 nights stay after four weeks of Safari in different countries was very pleasant and relaxing. A perfect service, the nice room and beautiful garden, excelent cleanliness and the quite surroundings made our stay unforgetable.
All the stuff is watch- and helpfull.
The pool was clean (not a matter of Course in Africa) and the access to the sea is easy by using the stairs. Don´t forget water shoes since some of the rocks are quite keen.
Wifi was stable and only lost during two short power break down in the whole village.
Many bars, restaurants and other hotels can be reached within a few minutes walk.
We don´t want to forget to recommend our excellent taxi driver Ridhwan (SUFI). He is offering Transport from and to Stone Town as well as many different excursions (e.g. snorkeling, spice tour, swimming with dolphins, city tour etc.) with different cars available for Singles, couples or Groups. His prizing is fair and he is honest. You will not find a better one in Zanzibar. His contact number is +255 773 215993 (WhatsApp)

We absolutely loved our stay at The Zanzibari!
We originally planned to stay 1 night, but extended to 8 nights once we were there. It has a GREAT vibe about it and is truly boutique and beautiful! It is the perfect place for relaxing!!!!!
It is close to Mnemba Island (and the tour can pick you up from the ocean in front of the pool!) We did a village tour with Omar which we loved too! He was full of knowledge and took us to the school. We had a massage at the adorable little hut by the beach. The breeze was heaven!

The staff were absolutely delightful and made our stay perfect! Fabiola, the GM was extremely helpful, professional and SO welcoming!!!! The restaurant staff were incredible. SO kind, attentive and beautiful in their ways- We especially loved Elizabeth and Mwajey!!! It was so nice to meet them and we won't forget their hospitality and kindness in a hurry!
We also loved Susan in the restaurant, but she only worked one day while we were there. She was SO kind also and we look forward to getting to know her more next time!

Lizer, Emmanual and Supane were the security and went about their jobs in a professional manner and always made us feel safe! Houskeeping staff - Rose, Elizabeth and Rachel did a beautiful job each day with the rooms and always greeted us in the kindest manner. They decorated with flowers too- our favourite!

We were truly welcomed at Zanzibari and it gave us a chance to relax and catch our breathe.
If you forget a book, they have a book shelf too that you can borrow from! Delicious Coconut prawns, Cheese and tomato toasties and yummy pizza's and more! We loved our stay and can't wait to come back. We would give it 10/10 due to the staff and their kindness and the overall vibe...... Looking forward to returning!!! Thank you Zanzibari staff!

I stayed in this hotel for several nights recently. There were two of us and we had one of the two villas that have a small pool and a little garden with a view of the sea. The beach is rocky and did not look very inviting for swimming although some hotel guests went for a swim. The villa was very rustic with brown floor and furniture made of reclaimed wood and if you want sleek modern furniture and all rooms with air con, this will not be a place for you. The downstairs bedroom was very comfortable and had an aircon and there is also a bathroom and a lounge with no air conditioning. The upstairs has one large room that has a bed with a mosquito net, a daybed, a couple of armchairs and a second bathroom. The whole floor is open on one end towards the sea. We used this floor for reading and naps, as the wind kept the room cool even when it got hot in the afternoon.

The hotel arranged transfers for us. We had half board and the food was generally fine. Each dinner was five courses so plenty to eat and for breakfast you can choose items from a breakfast menu. We often ordered food from a restaurant for lunch and it was brought to us to the villa by the rooms service. Some of the staff are friendly and efficient but others are a bit indifferent. The ladies who clean the rooms are lovely and they made beautiful flower arrangements.

I had my birthday in this hotel and they did a good job in making my day special, although there were a few minor glitches such as that the spa was not being able to do my nails as part of the manicure because the nail polish would not set probably because of the heat. When we had our dinner at the villa, most of the seafood was pretty cold. The great things were how beautifully they had decorated the bed and the table for dinner and the nice birthday cake and champagne.

In my view this is a nice and quiet small hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the view of the sea is stunning. There is no entertainment in the evenings. This worked well for us, as we just wanted some peace and quiet.
