Cute little Italian restaurant down Cow Lane off one of the main roads.
Restaurant is only small with about 10 tables inside and a few outside. An open fire is on which would be lovely in winter but whilst providing lovely character was a little stifling on a warm spring night.
We opted to dine outside which was lovely.
Menu was quite limited with about 6 different pizza and pastas plus a few breads. Half serves were available which was a great option.
Pasta Di Pollo was nice and a little spicy.
Garlic bread is huge so good if you're hungry.
Prices were moderate.

Lovely rustic decor greeted us on a Monday evening. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the garlic bread which arrives as a piping hot whole loaf smothered in crushed garlic and garlic oil. Slice it yourself and put on your own butter. It’s a little bit different to your normal pre sliced bread cooked wrapped in foil. We loved it! We ordered the her majesty’s pizza with anchovies and garlic plus the mushroom spaghetti. A huge bowl of spaghetti smothered in a rich and creamy sauce with plenty of mushrooms arrived quickly as did the 14 inch sized pizza. Flavour was excellent for both dishes. Fresh parmesan would have been a nice touch rather than the shaker of dry stuff on the table. The pizza base was light and crispy, the toppings were plentiful. Cost was fairly typical for a restaurant of this style in New Zealand. $99 for 3 people including 3 alcoholic drinks. Would dine here again.

Staff were stand-offish and you have to queue for a table whilst putting up with lots of noisy families (imagine a busy all-you-can-eat diner). The range of pizzas is small with minimal toppings and is very overpriced (the prices have increased compared to the menu currently published online by a third party). There are plenty of delicious pizza options in Wanaka- GO ELSEWHERE!

Instantly loved the atmosphere of The Cow as soon as we walked in the door. Fire was going, stone walls and wooden beams all dimly lit, place looks really inviting and quaint. Settled ourselves into one of the booths and had a few beers to wash down a super tasty pizza. They managed to make the veg pizza for us without cheese and chucked on a heap of other veggies to make it packed full of flavour. Will be back before the end of the cold nights to warm up by the fire for sure!

I dined here with friends on a busy Saturday night and was impressed by the friendly efficient service of the staff who were flat out busy. The pizzas were a fantastic kiwi take on the traditional Italian style and the 'cut your own' homemade garlic bread was delicious. The busy, loud vibe made for a buzzing fun atmosphere. Toasty warm with a roaring open fire!
