Brought a beautiful and very large piece of fresh salmon for dinner with friends. Excellent quality.

Have found sashimi poorly prepared and quite tough, suspect they may have used overly mature fish.
Unpleasant strong fish smell around farm unlike other farm, I guess the water is stagnant and not flowing as much as other farms.
Possibly cheaper than Pukaki but not as tasty.
Worth driving to Pukaki for sashimi.

This place a must-visit place for Salmon sashimi lover. We dropped by this place on our way from Lake Wanaka to Twizel. I found out about this place from yelp; however, I went there with not very high expectation. It is located just beside state highway and very easy to find. The salmon at the high country is super fresh and yummy. I have tried many Salmon sushi restaurant and this is one of the freshest salmon at a cheap price. The high country offers not only sashimi but also other which are made with salmon such as Salmon burger, Salmon pie, and Salmon curry. Highly recommend dropping by.

We came across this place by chance and it is not often that we've eaten and go back and order more...but we did because the food was very good.

We went for the salmon burger and the salmon curry. We then shared a salmon pie between us and took home a sushi for later.

A must do when in Twizel.

We stopped at this cafe that was located beside the main road on our way from Cromwell to Twizel. We were hoping to see a lot of salmon reared beside the cafe, but hardly saw any. The cafe was heated and was a welcome relief from the cold outside..
