We booked this hotel through a package with Costco. We had spent 10 days in Maui, and wanted to visit Pearl Harbor and spend a couple of days in Oahu. We didn't know anything about Waikiki, and booked the Luana based upon the Costco recommendation. Aside from being overwhelmed about how crowded Waikiki is, this hotel was very nice. We did not utilize all of the amenities, although the pool looked really inviting with nice chairs and a spacious deck area. The hotel will provide towels and beach chairs, but we were not in Waikiki long enough to spend a day at the beach. The hotel also offers a yoga class one morning and a wine and cheese hour one evening. We didn't do either, but there were several people that did. The hotel is walking distance to several shops and restaurants, and we took advantage of that. They charge $35/night for valet parking (you really have no choice) and the valet guys were very friendly and helpful. The hotel also charges an $18/night hospitality fee. I suppose if you use all of the amenities, it is worth it. We had an ocean view suite, and it was well equipped with comfy beds and plenty of space. The concierge was very helpful giving us ideas of where to stop along the North Shore and had good suggestions for eating out. The gals at the front desk were also very nice and helpful.
Waikiki isn't our idea of a vacation...we like the slower pace and less crowds in Maui. I don't have anything to compare it to, since this was our first trip to Oahu, but I would for sure suggest this hotel to anyone staying in Waikiki.

Aloha Glo3S,

Thank you for posting at tripadvisor.com.

As this was your first experience of hustle and bustle of Waikiki, the "gathering place", we appreciate that you would recommend the Luana Waikiki Hotel and Suites to anyone planning to stay in Waikiki as your hotel of choice.

If you venture back to Waikiki again, we hope you can take advantage of the wonderful guest amenities such as the wine, beer and cheese reception; the spacious pool deck and comfy lounge chairs; the beach chairs and towels; the beach cruiser bikes; the BBQ grills; etc.

Am glad you appreciated the friendly and helpful staff as well as the comfy beds and spacious rooms.

Take care and hope to see you back soon.

Regards,

Clem

The right place to stay in Honolulu/Waikiki:
- Perfect localization. 1 block from the touristic area of restaurants and shops, still without the noise if you want to rest;
- Very good quality vs. price;
- 1 block from a car rental company if you want to rent a car for a day on the other side of the island;
- Very good support from Concierge if you want to go to tours, rent a car, Luaus, etc.
- Super clean common areas and room;
- Close to convenience stores;
- Walk distance from the beach,
- Friendly staff.
Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Luana for 9 nights and were very happy there. Our 6th floor kitchenette room with partial ocean view had everything we needed. We felt like we got some good services for our daily resort fee. We especially enjoyed the barbecue area, heated pool, wine & cheese receptions and the yoga classes. Having access to beach towels and beach chairs was also great. The wifi worked well in all areas of the hotel. The Luana is in a good location, right next to Fort DeRussy Park and a short walk to Waikiki Beach, restaurants, shopping and grocery/convenience stores.

Aloha Leah077,

Mahalo for posting on Tripadvisor.com.

We are happy that you were happy, staying with us for 10 days! We are glad you enjoyed the BBQ area, heated pool, wine, beer and cheese receptions, beach chairs/towels, free wifi throughout the building and the complimentary yoga classes.

We agree that the Luana Waikiki Hotel and Suites is conveniently located, next to a quiet serene park yet a short walk to famous Waikiki Beach, wonderful restaurants, an extensive variety of shopping and grocery/convenience stores for those odds and ends you may require. A good hotel location is quintessential to an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your post.

Regards,

Clem

My husband and two teenage boys and I stayed in a one bedroom with kitchen and ocean view room. The room is dated, the ac didn't work in the bedroom but worked very well in the living room. It had two sliding glass doors onto a lanai that was furnished with four chairs and two small tables with a great view of the park and ocean. There has been complaints about their elevators but I personally had no problems with them. The wine and cheese is wonderful!! We used their beach towels and small beach chairs almost everyday. We had a very late flight on our checkout day but the staff stored our luggage and we stayed at the pool all day, they had a bathroom with shower to use. There are a few minor things that I forgot to tell the front desk to address so hopefully they'll read it here. Room 607 needed to be cleaned a little better, you need a frying pan and flipper. The bedroom door needs to be oiled as well as the bedroom sliding glass door (very hard to open) the ac in the bedroom barely works (ok for me, I don't like ac) All in all this Hotel was a great place to stay!

Aloha LuvPlmTrs,

Mahalo for posting to Tripadvisor.com.

We are glad you enjoyed the great views of the park and ocean from the large lanai of your one bedroom ocean view room.

We are also glad you had no problems with the elevators. It seems the elevator intermittently affects a few guests traveling during peak times.

Thank you for your feedback and we will utilize it to improve future guest experiences.

We agree that "this hotel was GREAT PLACE TO STAY"!!!

Regards,

Clem

Is a very nice clean hotel and you can get a decent view for the price. Close to everything in Waikiki. Nice to have a lanai with chairs to sit on. Nice sized room as well. No complaints. USB port in the room is on the PlayStation.

Aloha quacker907,

Thank you for posting at tripadvisor.com.

Glad you enjoyed the large room, the electronic conveniences and sitting out on the lanai, relaxing and enjoying the view. The Luana Waikiki provides a nice option of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, if you choose to immerse yourself in it; as well as a quiet oasis provided at the hotel pool, BBQ area and in the large 20 acre park at our backdoor.

We appreciate that you chose to stay at the Luana Waikiki and we look forward to hosting you again, very soon.

Best regards,

Clem
