If you are looking for something very affordable and you don’t have high expectations, this motel is for you. Our room was very small but it was clean. The furniture, the AC and the TV are very old, the bath tub was stained and had cracks on it, the curtains had a weird smell, the AC was loud and the microwave plate had a wrong wheeled tray so it didn’t spin. The fridge and the cable COX channels were good and the bed wasn’t bad. I think for 1 night is ok. Our neighbor next door looked homeless and a lot of people were smoking outside their doors. I read that this hotel is on the “list of new housing options for frontline workers who don’t want to go home and potentially expose the COVID 19 virus to their loved ones. They can now go to RIHavens.com to find hotel rooms at reduced rates.“Maybe they have a vulnerable family member at home and they want to have a safe place to be and not risk exposure to their family member.”” I only read this after our stay! We should have been warned when booking it. I wouldn’t stay here with kids. That being said, the staff at the front desk was friendly and there was somebody taking care of the landscape and small repairs every time we entered the motel. They also offer weekly rental. I would only recommend this hotel for singles or couples that need a place to stay for the night.
The rates were unbelievably low and the room was nice and clean. no smoke odor and the front desk told me they are constantly pinging people for $200 fines. So if you have a pet or if you smoke this is not the place for you.

We stayed one night at the Pineapple, Harbor Base Inn and were surprised at how bad this place is. There were stains on the sheets on one of the beds. The room was run down, dated and dirty. This is the first bad review I have ever posted on Trip Advisor but I didn’t want others to fall into the predicament that we faced. In addition to the condition of the property we were booked at a rate that was more than twice the price shown on their web site. When I mentioned this to the desk I was told there was nothing they could do. I wish I took a photo of our room, it looked nothing like the photos of the rooms shown on their web site. Do your self a favor, do not stay at this property.

Pros: very clean, comfortable bed, good air conditioning, parking in front of the room, chairs outside room (for smoking - many guests smoke), close and easy access to Newport, close to WalMart and Stop&Shop and other convenient stores and restaurants.
Cons: phone broken, refrigerator broken, tv broken, shower barely adequate, sketchy internet, office not always staffed

The term ‘you get what you pay for’ couldn’t be more true here. The place is like a cheap old motel. No frills. No hairdryers in the room. Old furniture, old everything. The parking spots are right outside the rooms so that’s very convenient. It is also conveniently located to downtown Newport. I would not stay here again.

This one of those "it is what it is" motels. It is a place where you don't pay thru the nose (altho the difference between Sat. and Sun. prices is literally $100 and kind of a bummer), it's a 5 min drive to the fun strip of stuff on Broadway, it's a good sized room with fairly comfortable beds and a decent bathroom. It is not a place with nice towels, everything working in the room (couldn't get the fridge going and the remote wouldn't control the volume or the off/on). Checking in was good but oddly the door was locked Sun. morning at 8:45AM. There was rust here and there and you're not gonna want to lay around hanging out. But for our one night, it served the purpose. We'll have to come on a weekday next time and spend the more realistic price of <$100 which is more in line with what should be charged here.
