Description: The Atrisco Cafe & Bar is a friendly, neighborhood New Mexican restaurant. Our philosophy is simple recipes, fresh ingredients, and friendly service. We cater to the tastes of Santa Feans who love authentic New Mexican chile, but also offer a small but carefully crafted selection of American dishes such as burgers with house-cut fries, Southwest Chicken Salad, and Meat Loaf. When possible, we purchase New Mexico grown ingredients, including all-natural grass-fed ground beef, lamb, red and green chile, honey, and vegetables when in season.

Our first visit to SF and we relied on Tripadvisor for help, you guys did NOT disappoint. We loved everything we had for dinner including the delicious pozole. Service was fast and friendly and the price was right too!

My husband and I wanted to try a New Mexican place that we had not been to before. We went on a Friday night. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a table.

I had cheese enchiladas with red sauce, and I asked for posole instead of the rice it came with. The meal was pretty good, though not the best I have had. My vegetarian husband had the chile rellenos with red sauce. He said they were really good, some of the better ones he has had. They were not breaded with the puffy eggy batter some places use, but a crunchy bread-crumb based batter.

Service was fine. The restaurant is in a mall so it lacks some of the interestingness of others that are in old buildings, but it was clean and convenient and parking was easy.

I would go back.

It is interesting to note that the good reviews are from people outside of Santa Fe. Those of us who live here, know there are better choices for quality and value.

The last meal we had at Atrisco was a disappointing lunch about a year ago. Since we were on our way home from being away for a month and La Choza was closed, we decided to give Atrisco another try; this time for dinner.

While both the red and green chile are are good, the overall presentation is not. We specifically asked for the sopapillas to be served at the end of the meal. When they arrived with the meal, the server simply put the under a hot lamp. Given they were not hot and fluffy to start with, this certainly didn't help. Further, there is no excuse for serving running sweet syrup in lieu of real honey. In addition, house margaritas are weak.

The decor is a little above basic, but the biggest issue is that the staff clearing plates manage to make more noise than plate-throwing at a Greek restaurant.

We will not be returning.

We arrived hungry from a hectic day in airports and this cafe really hit the spot for typical New Mexican fare. My "Lite Plate" consisted of a rolled chicken enchilada, rice, whole beans, a small bowl of posole and a fluffy sopapilla for dessert. My husband chose chalupas stuffed with veggies (mushrooms, squash and peppers) which also came with a sopapilla. Wine was available for $6 a glass. We will be back!

Couldn't figure out who was helping us, so we took care of booster seats and drinks from the bar ourselves.
The green chile was amazing! Yum!
We will hope that the service was a fluke, but not a good first impression.
