The Maxwell Inn in Estes Park was and is the best hotel we stayed at during our three weeks lasting trip through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota. Our room in the annex was spacious, very comfortable, cozy and quiet. We found everything in the room and in the Maxwell Inn we needed and we could relax after a long day in Rocky Mountain National Park. The owners Peter and Dana could not do better because they fulfill every wish you have, we felt like king and queen in the Maxwell Inn!!

RoNiMu we really appreciate the great review! Thanks for staying with us, and we're overjoyed to hear the Annex met all of your needs! This will be just the second season for that building (four rooms), and the feedback has been great. Those rooms are larger than our regular rooms, and folks really have enjoyed that setup. It's great that you enjoyed Estes and our place, and that you got to visit and vacation in the West. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and for staying with us this summer!!! Come again, we'll be here!

This is a very clean and cozy modernized old school motel. Our room was spotless and very space efficient. We really liked the patio area outside our room. The check-in was smooth and friendly. Great location to town and RMNP.

BDG - Thanks for staying with us this summer and for writing a review. We appreciate the kind words and will pass along the great feedback to our housekeepers. Space efficient is something we've tried to become VERY familiar with as some of the rooms just aren't that big. In six years, I think we've gone through three versions of furniture layout/setup and I feel like we do keep getting better at making the rooms comfortable and efficient. Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your experiences!

This property is found on the main street just west of the shopping district. An entrance to the Nat'l Park is a few minutes on west. The Inn appears to be a 1960's motel that has been very tastefully remodeled. Our room was spacious, but the bathroom was a bit smallish. Very little noise from other guests, but there is some residential street noise easily masked by setting the AC on continual fan or with a noise machine (which we always travel with for these occasions). Stretching outdoor seating areas. Friendly desk service. Ample parking. We'd come back.

HuskerT, Thanks for staying with us this summer and for writing a review about your stay! The motel was built, or remodeled into a motel, in the late 1960's - you're right on! We've worked to update and remodel what we can and appreciate that you liked it. Yes, those bathrooms can be tiny - one of the things we wish they'd done differently way back when! Being on Elkhorn is a double edged sword, in that you do get cars passing by - the wall unit fans are perfect for masking that in the evening! We're glad the peaceful and convenient nature of our location, as well as our simple, yet welcoming, rooms met your needs. Thank you for the kind words and we hope to see you again!

The Maxwell Inn is a smaller, privately run hotel in Estes Park. We booked the Annex Room 22, 2nd floor. It was very nice with vaulted ceilings, super clean and plenty of space. The only drawback would be you need to haul things up the stairs, but that was not an issue for us after days of hiking in the mountains! If you have mobility issues, stick to first floor. The location is great and quick to get to either entrance for RMNP. There is a very good pizza place across the street, but a very pleasant walk along the river gets you to downtown Estes Park in about 5 minutes where you can enjoy the shopping and plenty of restaurants. The room featured a DVD player and you could check out a movie from the front desk if you wanted. My only criticism is that the breakfast didn't start until 7, so if you wanted to get to the popular parts of the park early, you were on your own. I'd stay again if I was to return to Estes Park!

MJD, Thank you for the kind words! The Annex rooms presented us with a unique opportunity - we'd run and renovated the rest of the motel for five years and knew what we would like to have been done differently from the time it was constructed. The Annex being new construction gave us that ability, so we're glad to hear it met your needs! The river walk is great - most folks have driven at least a few hours from the airport (if not longer) to get here, so being able to walk and skip the car for a while is a nice reprieve. Because our breakfast is prepackaged for the most part, we're happy help a guest grab a few items in the evening if you plan on skipping breakfast in the morning because of a very early start, please just ask and we'll get you set up. Thank you for staying with us and for writing about your experience. Please come visit us and Estes Park again!

My wife and I were looking for a place to stay when visiting Rocky Mountain national Park. Due to the many excellent reviews we opted to stay at the Maxwell Inn.

We will be leaving tomorrow but our four-day stay here has been excellent very quiet very very clean we were actually very surprised how clean it was two thumbs up for the housekeeping crew.

The ladies at the front desk of always been accommodating when wanting extra coffee or other things.

The thing that I’ve enjoyed most about the end it is directly down the street from old downtown Estes Park.

But you are far enough away there’s you’re not near all the noise, traffic and congestion.

Another plus is that you’re just minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park as we have visited their daily.

And another big big plus for us right across the street is Antonios New York pizzeria.
The food is exceptionally good and it is very very convenient.

So one our next visit back to Rocky Mountain national Park in Estes Park we will be planning on staying here at the Maxwell Inn

PS the Inn has other amenities we just never got around to using like the patio hot tub and free breakfast

Rich - Thanks for staying with us this summer! We appreciate the kind words and understand that it takes time to sit down and write a review. There are a lot of draws that pull us from thing to thing now a days; thank you for taking the time to offer up your input and feedback for others! Our motel, well any business, really, is about expectations, and we believe that if guests take the time to see what to expect at our place they'll be pleasantly surprised when they stay. We'll pass the kudos along to the housekeepers - we agree they do a great job. They're human, so we realize mistakes happen from time to time, but they work hard and have a lot of pride in their work. We've done it here and there with them depending on the daily workload - it's a tough job. We agree that our location is great because you're able to walk on the paved Riverwalk into downtown and you're just minutes away from the Fall River entrance to the Park. And you're right, having a great pizza place across the street is an added bonus! We're happy to hear that we provided a comfortable place from which you could explore the park and town and we do hope to see you again. Thank you again and safe travels!
