Just returned from a few days in the RMNP and had a wonderful stay at the Blue Door. It's a nice, comfortable motel located about a mile from the main part of Estes Park (there are restaurants, shopping and a movie theater close by). We had a king bed room which was very clean and quiet, but on the small side. The bathroom is just the shower (complete with LED light showerhead) and toilet. The sink and makeup area is in the main room. The night we were there they had a fire with marshmallows and songs. Breakfast was muffins, coffee, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, etc. On the day we checked out, they were putting breakfast away at about 9 am, so don't sleep in! Overall, the motel was perfect for us because we were mainly in town to hike and sightsee. This isn't a knock on the place...if you're looking for luxury, you should look elsewhere.

BTW, if you're in town for the park, whatever you do, use the North entrance just 5 mins or so from the motel! We literally had no wait at the North entrance at the same time someone said the main Estes Park entrance line was over a mile long! You have to go a bit out of the way to get to places like Bear Lake, but it is worth it to avoid that traffic.

Where to begin-
First of all- Staff were awesome- The pool is heated- There is music every night outside- there are COOKIES almost every night at the front desk- Simple breakfast but we're not there to eat we're there to climb mountains ! Just a short walk down the hill (easy walk) and then a trolly back up the hill (free and takes 90 seconds) I have already looked into weeks next summer to go back to RMNP and I am looking only at The Blue Door- P.S. Everything on their website was accurate including the shower-heads- P.P.S. Listen to Jacque (about everything from the weather to the sites)

Room Tip: Rooms seem all comparable they face the courtyard and have sky-views from some angle of the mountains-

Convenient and clean, this hotel was great for getting out to the park early to beat the crowds. We wanted to get to Emerald lake before the parking lot was full and we easily did thanks to the great sleep and convenient location. Skipped breakfast as it didn’t start until 7 am and we were already to the lake.

We stayed for one night, while in town for a wedding, and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations, considering the age of the hotel. They have done a great job in updating. The bedding was comfortable, the décor was pleasant, and the extra small touches were appreciated. The room was very clean! We booked one room for 4 adults, and were surprised to find that we had separate rooms connected by a door. I believe we were in the only room of its type, so you may need to request it. The horseshoe pit, cornhole, and pool were a nice addition. We'll be back!

New owners are killing it! Super friendly and clean. They want to be the best hotel in Estes Park, they got my vote. Did I mention they pay attention to every single detail. Even my shower head was changing colors (LED Lights). What's up with that! I wish other hotels take this much pride in their hotels. All these great reviews, hopefully their is a vacancy for my family in the future.
