Description: Tucanos is an experiential dining, family-friendly destination that combines the unique serving style of the traditional Brazilian grilling, referred to as "churrasco" (shoe-HAS-ko) - an exhibition-style meal surrounded by flames and colors, with the flair and festivity of the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The cuisine features specially seasoned or marinated meats and vegetables (nearly 20 varieties), grilled and then served hot off the skewers at each table until the guest's appetite is fully gratified. Guests will find one-of-a-kind touches at the restaurant abound, including the color-coded, Tucanos Cue. Placing the Tucanos cue green side up lets the entree servers know that guests would like the parade of seasoned meats, vegetables and fresh pineapple brought to the table. Expertly trained meat servers then slice sizzling portions off skewers directly onto diners' plates. Tucanos also offers an abundant and award-winning Salad Festival, featuring more than 70 items.

Typical Brazilian churrasco, grilled meats brought to your table on large skewers. But in addition has delicious fish and grilled vegetables. The fried white fish was out favorite. The salad bar is huge and includes sushi and breakfast items! Very friendly staff and pleasant dining experience. Great for special occasion or with out of town guests.

I would like to start by saying we have always liked Tucanos, Albuquerque. The combination of diverse food entrees and great service has always been consistent. We dined on Friday, February 24th and had reservations at 530 PM. Our family was celebrating our father in law visiting from Kentucky. We introduced him to Tucanos during his last visit and he wanted to come back. When we arrived, my wife was excited to try the advertised seafood additions to the menu. Friday dinner was a big disappointment; both the meal and overall dinning experience. The meat service was slow, the fish was cold, dry, and overcooked. In our first 35 minutes we were offered pineapple four times, dry and luke warm Swordfish, overcooked Salmon and got last two pieces bacon wrapped turkey off the skewer. Our waitress Alexandria was conscientious and tried to "talk to someone" two times but the meat service did not improve. Finally, when our dissatisfaction was voiced to a manager, we became inundated with meat and food service all i a 5 minute period. This provided a pile of meat entrees on our plates which quickly got cold and which was not enjoyable. This ruined our Tucanos experience and subsequently our dinner celebration. It appeared two managers made eye contact with us, but no one came to speak with us or make any attempt to make things right. Three adult entrees, a Sam Adams draft and a Brazilian Sun Cocktail, $90.79 plus tip ($109) for cold, dry food, and a disappointing uncharacteristic experience. Bummer!

There is plenty of food here. We tried to try every type of meat/fish offered and couldn't do it. There is much and even when you think the small slices of meat can't possibly be enough, you are stuffed after a few rounds.
We forced ourselves to try a dessert, the mango cake. That was definitely worth the loosening of the belt buckle- yum.
The salad buffet has all sorts of options: salads, marinated veggies, sushi, cheese bread, soups, fried bananas-just delicious.
There is also a yummy drink with vodka and a version of the Brazilian ginger ale- yum- that's a new favorite of ours.
We had fun. We would go there again.
