Flying Star is a local favorite and has something for almost everyone in your troop. Specializing in what we used to call "California Style" cuisine, you can order at the counter and they bring your food (or pasty & coffee) out to your table when it's ready. The food choices are strong on healthy, natural, chicken - fish - beef - or vegetarian options and range from the Buddha Bowl (Rice & steamed veggies with luscious deep fried tofu) to a Nosh plate (Mediterranean) to a fresh fish dish with pearly cous-cous, to a giant stacked hamburger. And much more. Salads are FANTASTIC. Flying Star is also very popular for breakfast, with options from oatmeal to a breakfast burrito to piles of potatoes with green chili, eggs & cheese. Lastly, and first really, this place started out in the 1970's with an emphasis on pasty & coffee, so they still have the very best cakes & pies in town. With multiple locations all around the Q, and Petio's at nearly every one (a "petio" is a place you can bring your dog with you to dine - and the only store that doesn't have one is the Nob Hill location) ... Flying Star is a CAN'T LOSE location for fresh food and a happy family. The menu is wide enough for almost every pallet, and the food comes fast - so kids won't get bored or hungry waiting. A versatile every-day kinda place in this most unusual of American cities.

The Flying Star is a great place for a casual lunch. The food is good and it has a unique atmosphere. There is always a crowd but you can generally get a table and served fairly quickly.

Good combination- don't you agree? We were comfortable and relaxed sitting outside munching on our well prepared salad. Mine contained a handful of roasted chickpeas and a few lovely mini falafels with dill sauce. Lovely! Boyfriend had tossed Cobb. Scrumptious, he said!
Bread pudding was tasty but, we were told it would be served warm with rum sauce, however, it was just room temperature ( maybe they forgot?). Still, nice flavor.

Met my sister recently for lunch and enjoyed the relaxed pace in the heart of Albuquerque. The menu has options for all appetities, and the desert display makes it almost impossible not to order a sweet treat to accompany the meal. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was satisfying. There is plenty of seating indoors and out, and regulars make you feel right at home.
