Description: We're proudly locally owned since 1980. Many other restaurants and national chain eateries have come and gone in that time, and we're still one of Albuquerque's favorite places to eat. Come in and find out why. At Los Cuates, we're not one of those restaurants that gauges the quality of food by its hotness. For over 35 years, we've been serving New Mexican cuisine known for its flavorful palate that gives you a kick without being overwhelming. Our recipes are spiced perfect. Come in to one of our three Albuquerque locations and try our chips and salsa - we guarantee you've never tried salsa like this. Enjoy our hacienda-style ambiance while savoring our menu of always-fresh authentic New Mexico classics. Our signature dish is the chile relleno. Each carefully selected Anaheim chile pepper is peeled, stuffed and roasted daily in our kitchen. We should warn you, they're very addicting. Try one of our award-winning special features that take New Mexican food to new frontiers.

Food was okay. Red sauce was a little spicy for me. Service started out great & went down hill from there. Ordered a part sliver marg which was delicious on the rocks. Ordered another but frozen. Waited & waited for the frozen margarita, finished our food. Still waiting, finally he comes with a very bad frozen margarita & said is this right. Of course I said no, then re-did it with more ice that tasted like yuk! Sent it back. Never mind on that other margarita. Also asked if we wanted cheese, chicken or beef enchilada when we received our bill you we were charged 2.25 extra for the beef. Should not ask if want beef & then charge without telling us. Most likely will not return........

Let me start by saying this served the best New Mexican food when owned by Pee Wee and her husband. After his death she sold it and it's not the same. The original location was a hole in the wall and always packed because it was that good. Today the red chili isn't hot (think old El Paso out of a can) and the green chili lacked flavor. It's turned commercial cutting corners wherever they can and draws a different crowd (no Hispanics which should tell you something). I've always ordered blue corn beef enchiladas with red and used to even buy a bag of chips and salsa to go. Don't waste your money - go to Sandiago's at the Tram base. It's delicious and tastes the way NM chili should taste!

I didn't find the food here to be very good. I ordered soft tacos and they were average in quality and flavour. My margarita definitely came from a mix, so it was very sweet and didn't have a fresh lime flavour.
A very loud band started playing (at 6 p.m.?!?!), so we had to move to a different part of the restaurant because we had no way of talking to each other.
This wasn't the best dining experience and I wouldn't return.
