Excellent greeting from staff.. room was ready when we arrived...it was clean and spacious... luggage arrived promptly and awesome location.
I really wanted to give it 4-5 stars because the staff is really really nice... but the mattress was so lumpy and very uneven .. desperately needs changing...made for a less than comfortable sleep.
My other issue was housekeeping.. the first day.. housekeeper tended to room .. perfect.. but the second day we came back around 4 and our room wasn't done.. I called the desk and our room was done while we were at dinner.. the third day.. after being out all day and returning around 5:30.. our room wasn't done. We didn't bother calling to have it done but it's things like this that (for me) cost stars with reviews...if housekeeping isn't going to offered daily, a sign in the room or communication at checkin would have been fine.. otherwise, my expectation is that the room would be serviced daily.
It would have also been nice to have the executive lounge open on Saturday.

I just checked into this hotel an hour ago and I’ve already encountered the worst customer service by two different people. So much so I’m writing this review before even giving them a chance to make things right. That’s how disappointed I am. First, I checked in at the front desk and I had questions regarding a giftcard. Prior to today, I called the hotel to ask them how to go about applying my giftcard to the stay and they advised me I would give it to them when I check in. So here I am checking in and asking the woman at the front desk if she needs the giftcard. She answered me in a very condescending tone and told me I can use it at check out. I said okay great, I have another question regarding the giftcard. She then interrupted me and said I can use the giftcard at checkout. I guess she thought I didn’t hear her the first time…. I said “okay awesome! I was told to give it to you when I check in but my question is I’ve already pre paid for my room, do you credit me back at check out then so I can use the giftcard? She again, in the annoyed and condescending tone said you use the giftcard at check out. Apparently it’s not okay to ask questions about Marriott giftcards at Marriott hotels. After checking in, I brushed off the first rude employee and got settled in my room. I decided to order room service. I have two teenage girls with me and they are hungry so I call customer service to order food and have it delivered to the room. Again, as I’m ordering the woman sounds annoyed and disinterested at taking my order by responding with “yep” after everything I order. It would be fine if her tone was kind and friendly. Her tone and voice literally sounds disinterested on purpose so you know as the customer she does not give a crap about your order. Then at the end of the order the woman taking my order asked me how many people will be dining. I said what was that? I simply did not hear her. She said in a condescending and rude tone how many people 2, 5, 6, 7? I ordered two kids meals so why she’s shouting random numbers at this point is beyond me. I was confused and because she was being nasty I said “I’ve ordered two meals, obviously two people are eating.” She then says well you needed to ask me how many people the pot of hot chocolate serves in a smart ass tone (the menu literally says ‘pot of hot chocolate’ and doesn’t show how many people it serves), as if I’m dumb because I had to ask a question. She asks if I need anything else and I go to answer with “Yes, what is your name?” Because I’m pretty pissed at this point. She hangs up while I’m mid sentence. I then call back and get a guy who answers, I try to explain to him my experiences and frustrations since he tells me he’s a manager. He told me there are a lot of employees and he has no idea who took my food order and expressed that his staff might be stressed. I will never stay at a Marriott again because of this single 2 hour experience with two different employees back to back. We just got our food and the hot cocoa is hot water with a sprinkle of chocolate. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Should have stayed at The Grand America hotel.

I recently stayed at this hotel when traveling for work. I brought my personal laptop, which was stolen from my room. When I called the desk the night I found it (was packing) stolen the front desk person said, “our housekeepers don’t steal.” Which granted I understand they have some loyalty to the people that work there but if I guess the saying something is stolen, you don’t say it didn’t happen as the first thing you say. They said they couldn’t help me because housekeeping was closed at night, and that the next day someone would help me.

The next day I have to call down to the front desk to find out what’s happening and no one had done anything. I finally spoke to the manager, who then said he would send me his contact information so I could keep in touch with him to keep apprised to how the investigation is going. I had to call him back from the airport because I never got an email with any contact any information. Once I landed back home and had heard nothing from the hotel on locating it, I called the police and file the report.

It’s been a week since I alerted them that my laptop with stolen. I’ve gotten no response to the email I sent. I filed a police report and sent that to them: No response to that email. I have no idea if anyone is doing anything. I have no idea if they’re taking this seriously. I have no idea because I have gotten zero communication from the management.

I travel frequently. In all my years traveling around the world, I have never had anything stolen from my hotel room. I’m so disappointed that it was stolen but I’m more disappointed in the complete lack of communication from anyone at the hotel. I will be traveling to SLC frequently and will never stay at this hotel again.

We planned our company retreat at the marriott city center and everything went perfectly. We were so taken care of and the event people truly cared. I highly recommend using this hotel for company events! The food was delicious and they took care to make sure there were options for all dietary restrictions.
