Great rooms, terrible restaurant

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks agovia mobile
Comfortable rooms. Bed was wonderful. Spacious room.

We were part of a tour group. The restaurant was well aware that 44 people were coming to eat between 6:30-8:00. They didn’t have enough staff to handle the crowd. Our server ended up being the host. It was obvious he had NO IDEA how to take orders or what was on the menu. There were 4 of us at the table. We had a long wait. Then none of our orders came complete. Every order was missing at least 1 item. We were unable to catch the attention of anyone until we had finished the food they did bring us. At point more servers had arrived. We were able to explain what had been missing and that food was brought out. One couple on our group never did receive their food.

I’d recommend the hotel. But DO NOT eat at the restaurant.

Comfortable bed and spacious room. Great workout area and the best berries at breakfast! We arrived late after a long drive from Colorado and Skyler was a super friendly employees. There was plenty of space to park our car towing a trailer too.

Great location for anything downtown. The City Creek area was around a 12 minute walk and Pioneer Square was like 5 minutes. I felt like the parking was pretty secure if you are nervous parking in the metro area. Gate around the whole lot with the only 2 in and out areas. The room was spacious but could have been a bit cleaner. Also did not get any maid service not sure if you have to ask for that these days. Friendly staff. Easy check in and out. Delicious cookies put out during the day. Starbucks in the lobby.

Nice hotel, good size room, clean, the staff cleaned our room after the first day as we stayed 2 nights which was great to see.

However, I was a bit disappointed with the experience, we got a ground floor room even if we booked it 4 months ago and requested high floor room; we were told it was the last room as the hotel was fully booked! Hard to believe it when the hotel was so big with so many floors. I noticed people arriving after us and getting rooms so our room was not the last one !!

We paid for the breakfast, wasn’t cheap but there was a very poor selection for me as I am dairy allergic. There was a lovely staff who made me a fresh omelette without milk or cheese, then I had a sausage and a bit of fruits. I was charged full price for this. Second day there was no one to do fresh omelette and the food selection was even more restricted, so I had no breakfast at all. Staff quite controlling over coffee (for my husband) and orange juice, we had to chase them long time for a second coffee while they made us to feel uncomfortable for asking for a second.

The room was very noisy, I could hear next door talking, also above till 1.00 am in the morning, people talking and thumping very laud as there was no insulation between floors. I had a very poor sleep. We were told the big French door in the room could be opened to get fresh air but it didn’t, there were a few very noisy craws making laud caws constantly by the window, all day and evening.

The live TV had a very poor selection of channels to watch. The rom was standard, nothing special about it. There was no magnifying mirror in the bathroom so I struggled to put make up on and also, no large mirror, could not see my outfit, the only mirror was the one above the sink in the bathroom. For the money we paid I expected a bit more. I won’t came back to this hotel again.

I’m a very light sleeper but since the air/heat units keep a constant purring sound and the neighbors were quiet I slept well. Without the purring noise you definitely would be bothered by the road traffic.

Typical and decent room for Sheraton/Marriot. Bring your own lotions, shampoo etc., what they provide will not moisten your skin and, as in my case, may have run out (wall units).

Close to a very good pizza place- SetteBello which I recommend as do loads of others!

Gift/onsite shop sells loads of last minute souvenirs if you need them, plus yoghurt, orange juice, soft drinks, and a few beers.

The Sheraton SLC is great for a getaway, business, or family trip. A nice hotel with comfortable rooms is one of the reasons we continue to return. The staff around the entire hotel was friendly and helpful. Especially, being understaffed on New Year’s Eve Morning.

The hotel restaurant had a wait because some employees did not make it due to illness. The remaining manager, server, and cook did a fantastic job taking care of guests. Even though the buffet was not available the cooked-to-order food was great. What impressed me also was the guest's kindness and understanding of the situation by not adding to the front desk restaurant workload. Great leadership and teamwork at the Salt Lake City Sheraton. We look forward to our NEXT stay!
