Went to SLC for a last minute ski trip. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown. I normally try to stay near the Cottonwood Canyon roads but decided to stay downtown as we planned to go North to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain too. The room was nice and clean, lots of Covid protocol in place claiming sanitization, cleaning etc. The breakfast was pretty standard but certainly good. Throughout our stay I found any and all the staff I interacted with were above and beyond helpful, and very friendly. I met the GM at the front desk and had a nice casual conversation with her. It's probably an automated system but "she" texted me a few times during my 4 night stay and wanted to ensure we were enjoying our visit and questioned if we needed anything extra. Nice touch! On departure day, the snow event that slammed Texas and other states was completely disrupting air travel. When we questioned the front desk about staying another night and they were more than helpful. We actually paid for another night then found a last second flight to get home. So we panic packed and blitzed by the front desk after just paying for that night. They happily refunded our stay no questions asked. I saw where someone said the neighborhood was bad. I didn't really feel that it wasn't safe. We found lots of good dining within a mile of the hotel. Way to cold to walk to, but I think you could? One minor negative, we had a King room with a sofa. it was an adjoining room. One night the room was occupied, we could hear everything they said and did. Was it the door or thin walls, not sure? The staff made this trip for us. Super nice people.
